As a huge fan, I’m really enjoying the little additions in Yakuza Kiwami 3, and the emotes are a fun one! It feels like a lot of games have them now, but it’s cool to finally see Kiryu show some personality outside of the story scenes. You can make him wave and stuff just by pressing a button… but there’s actually more to it than just waving, which is awesome!
There’s a good reason to use emotes while you’re exploring in Yakuza Kiwami 3, and we’re going to explain it. These emotes actually have a purpose and could become just as important to your gameplay as fighting!
What Do Emotes Do in Yakuza Kiwami 3?
How to Emote
In Yakuza Kiwami 3, Kiryu can use emotes like waving to interact with people around him, and they’ll often react – sometimes turning to acknowledge him with waves, bows, or greetings. But emotes offer more than just these simple interactions.
Players can use emotes at the Morning Glory General Store to fulfill requests from Osamu Yasumura, the Chief of Security. Completing these requests earns Funds for Morning Glory and special items.
Currently, emotes mostly just let you interact with characters and fulfill requests from the security chief. Beyond that, they don’t seem to offer any real advantages to players, either while fighting or generally playing the game.
In Yakuza Kiwami 3, you can have Kiryu interact with people by pressing the Square button when you’re not fighting. He’ll wave to other characters, and you can even do this while riding the Street Surfer!
