PlayStation’s State of Play presentation on February 12th was its most successful ever. The event, which lasted over an hour and featured updates on upcoming games and new titles, broke viewership records with over 3.2 million views – exceeding the previous record by more than 200,000.
Last week, PlayStation announced a new State of Play event scheduled for February 12th. Because the event was confirmed to be over an hour long and feature news, gameplay, and announcements from studios worldwide, fans immediately predicted it would be a major showcase. PlayStation promised updates on games from both its own studios and third-party/indie developers for the PS5. Unlike some previous events that didn’t generate much excitement, this State of Play delivered, becoming the most-watched event PlayStation has ever hosted.
PlayStation’s February 2026 State of Play Breaks Viewership Records
I was checking the numbers, and wow, the latest PlayStation State of Play is HUGE! Push Square pointed out it’s officially their most-watched livestream ever, racking up over 3.2 million views just on the main YouTube stream. That’s way more than the previous record from June of last year – over 200,000 more views! It’s awesome to see so much excitement, but it’s worth noting that PlayStation Showcases are still bigger events. They usually have the really massive announcements, and the most popular one has almost 5 million views. Still, 3.2 million is incredible for a State of Play!

PlayStation’s State of Play events are growing in popularity, and it seems like the traditional PlayStation Showcase might be a thing of the past. The last Showcase was held in 2023 and featured announcements like the new Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater game and the Portal accessory. While that Showcase didn’t impress everyone, the State of Play event in February 2026 was much better received.
Sony’s presentation started with a trailer for Kena: Scars of Kosmora, the sequel to their popular 2021 game, Bridge of Spirits. The following hour showcased updates on highly anticipated games like Saros and Marathon, and introduced several new titles. These included Project Windless, a new John Wick game developed by Saber Interactive, and God of War: Sons of Sparta, a 2D platformer currently available on PlayStation 5.
Santa Monica Studios ended the show with big news: they’re remaking the original God of War trilogy. While fans were excited about that, several other anticipated titles weren’t revealed. Many were hoping for a new trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine, especially considering its planned release in Fall 2026. There’s also talk of a Starfield version for PS5, but sources say we’ll hear official details next month at a special Bethesda event.
