In the anime Jujutsu Kaisen, the strongest sorcerers are classified as ‘Special Grade’. These characters are powerful enough to potentially dominate entire countries, either through their raw power or their incredibly strong Cursed Techniques.
Yuki Tsukumo quickly became a fan favorite in Jujutsu Kaisen, even though she doesn’t appear on screen much. Her power comes from a remarkable technique called Star Rage, so let’s explore how it works and what makes it so strong.
What Is Star Rage And How Does It Work?
Yuki’s Cursed Technique
Yuki is an exceptionally powerful character, automatically ranked among the strongest in the series as a Special Grade sorcerer. Beyond her impressive abilities, she’s highly skilled in controlling Cursed Energy, demonstrating expertise in techniques like Simple Domain, Reverse Cursed Technique, and Domain Expansion.
Yuki’s incredible strength actually comes from a natural ability she possesses. Called Star Rage, it lets her effectively increase her own mass, and the mass of her Shikigami, Garuda. This is arguably the biggest source of raw physical power in the entire series – even more effective than just using Cursed Energy to boost strength – because it makes her attacks far more powerful than normal.
Yuki’s punches are incredibly powerful – imagine being hit by a truck, or something even heavier, depending on how much mass she’s using. Despite gaining a lot of weight, both Yuki and Garuda can still move freely and maintain that powerful impact, though there’s a limit to how much weight they can handle before it starts to slow them down.
Yuki’s Star Rage makes her the physically strongest character in Jujutsu Kaisen. Even compared to incredibly powerful characters like Sukuna and Gojo, who are considered the strongest in the series, Yuki’s raw physical strength surpasses theirs. While Sukuna and Gojo are more powerful overall due to their techniques and cursed energy control, Yuki’s physical power is greater.

Star Rage Is One Of The Most Overpowered And Dangerous Techniques
A Terrifying Power
Many fans were disappointed that Yuki only truly unleashed her full power once, during her fight with the powerful sorcerer, Kenjaku. While this battle proved she was a Special Grade, she unfortunately lost to the ancient villain.
Yuki’s attack, Star Rage, overwhelmed Kenjaku, catching him off guard. Despite being over a thousand years old and incredibly skilled with cursed energy, and possessing multiple cursed techniques, Kenjaku was nearly defeated several times. What made it even more surprising was that Yuki hadn’t even used her full power – she didn’t unleash her Domain Expansion during the fight.
Domain Expansions represent the highest level of Jujutsu sorcery, usable only by the most powerful sorcerers. As a Special Grade sorcerer, Yuki is capable of using one, but she never had the opportunity. Kenjaku had developed a unique Domain Expansion that was essentially invulnerable from the outside, meaning Yuki’s own Domain would have been immediately nullified and using it would have been pointless in their fight.
We can speculate about how Yuki’s Domain works. Since Domains enhance techniques within a guaranteed-hit barrier, her Domain likely either lets her add unlimited weight to herself without any negative consequences, or allows her to do the same to her opponent, crushing them instantly. It’s fascinating to think about the potential applications.
A Domain effectively cancels out all Cursed Techniques. Once someone is caught within a Domain, even powerful users like Gojo are vulnerable to attacks!
Yuki never had the chance to use her Domain Expansion. Instead, in her final moments, she did something potentially more powerful than any Domain – she kept increasing her own mass. This continued to an extreme degree, even as it began to harm her. Ultimately, her mass became incredibly dense, forming a black hole.
If not for Tengen’s protective barrier and Yuki’s last-ditch effort, this black hole would have obliterated the world. Yuki’s Cursed Technique, had it spiraled out of control, could have consumed everything, solidifying its place as one of the most powerful techniques ever seen.
Jujutsu Kaisen can be streamed on Crunchyroll and Netflix.
