Black Ops 6 Attachments
The focus for Black Ops 6 is to condense and streamline Attachments so you can easily understand the bonuses when it comes to utilizing the Gunsmith. Here are some of the changes:
- Gaining the Advantage: Attachments almost always come with a benefit (Pro), and not a detriment (Con), so you know you’re creating a weapon more potent than the base version.
- Optics for All… : Almost all Optic Attachments are shared across all weapons in a Weapon Class. For example, unlock the Red Dot Sight with a SMG and you’ll be able to equip it to all SMGs in the Weapon Class.
- …Everything Else is Unique: All other Attachment Types – Muzzle, Barrel, Underbarrel, Magazine, Rear Grip, Stock, Laser, and Fire Mods – are unique to the weapon in question in terms of unlocking and usage.
- Getting Specific: Instead of having a weapon function – such as ADS speed – being affected by multiple attachments that are difficult to keep track of, they are related to a single Attachment type.
- For example, equipping a “Rear Grip” Attachment will always improve your handling, and the grip you choose will boost a unique combination of handling stats (to Sprint to Fire Speed, Slide to Fire Speed, Dive to Fire Speed, ADS Speed, or a combination thereof). All the different grips are designed to improve the weapon’s potency, not reduce it.
- Information is Power: The net result of this new system is that it allows players to make informed weapon-building decisions easily and create effective Builds without constantly needing looking up “meta” builds online.
Optics:
Available on: Assault Rifles, SMGs, Shotguns, LMGs, Marksman Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Pistols.
Not Available on: Launchers, Melee Weapons.
Stat Benefit: Accuracy
Sights or scopes attached to the top of a weapon, designed to improve accuracy during target engagement. Occasionally improves Recoil Gun Kick. More powerful scopes (usually designed for Sniper Rifles) may reduce ADS Speed.
Remark: Optics function differently compared to other attachments because they are universally applicable. In simpler terms, when you acquire an Optic, it is accessible on all weapons within the same category, rather than being limited to the weapon it was initially obtained for.
Remark: Optical devices feature Reticles – these are additional lines and dots that help you identify your targets more clearly and improve your accuracy. You can personalize your Optics by earning various Reticles through Reticle Challenges.
Muzzles:
Available on: Assault Rifles*, SMGs, Shotguns, LMGs, Marksman Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Pistols.
Not Available on: Launchers, Melee Weapons.
Stat Benefit: Accuracy
Typically situated at the weapon’s end, muzzles serve a dual purpose: firstly, they direct escaping gases when needed, and secondly, they help manage or lessen the force of recoil.
Barrels:
Available on: Assault Rifles, SMGs, Shotguns, LMGs, Marksman Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Pistols.
Not Available on: Launchers, Melee Weapons.
Stat Benefit: Firepower
The part at the front of the gun that the bullet passes through after the trigger is pulled. Add-ons often enhance the firepower’s reach and speed, allowing for quicker hits on targets.
Underbarrels:
Available on: Assault Rifles, SMGs*, Shotguns, LMGs, Marksman Rifles.
Not Available on: Sniper Rifles, Pistols, Launchers, Melee Weapons.
Stat Benefit: Firepower, Accuracy
At the foot of the barrel, you’ll find two primary types of attachments: Foregrips and Launchers. Foregrips are designed to minimize recoil and stabilize the weapon for better aim (precision). On the other hand, Launchers enhance your firepower by providing an additional firing mode to your weapon, typically a powerful explosive charge or grenade.
Magazines:
Available on: Assault Rifles, SMGs, Shotguns*, LMGs, Marksman Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Pistols.
Not Available on: Launchers, Melee Weapons.
Stat Benefit: Firepower or Handling
Magazines store a weapon’s ammunition and come in two primary varieties: Extended magazines offer the ability to carry more rounds, thereby enhancing firepower although it might affect handling. On the other hand, Rapid or Quick-Flip magazines sacrifice some firepower due to having fewer bullets, yet they significantly improve handling.
Combs:
Available on: Sniper Rifles
Does not support the following types of weapons: Assault rifles, Submachine guns (SMGs), Shotguns, Light Machine Guns (LMGs), Marksman Rifles, Pistols, Grenade Launchers, and Melee Weapons.
Stat Benefit: Handling
Besides being called a Cheek Riser, combs are specialized head supports exclusively designed for sniper rifles, mounted on the stock’s top, and they enhance handling primarily by reducing the time taken to fire or aim down sights (ADS). However, this improvement in speed may compromise accuracy, depending on the specific comb used.
Rear Grips:
Available on: Assault Rifles, SMGs, Shotguns*, LMGs, Marksman Rifles, Pistols.
Not Available on: Sniper Rifles, Launchers, Melee Weapons.
Stat Benefit: Handling
Behind the weapon’s trigger, there is a grip made of rubber for better handling. Additional accessories can enhance the way you handle the gun, often reducing the time needed to aim down sights (ADS) or firing in certain situations.
Stocks:
Available on: Assault Rifles, SMGs, Shotguns, LMGs, Marksman Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Pistols.
Not Available on: Launchers, Melee Weapons.
Stat Benefit: Accuracy or Mobility
These are braces designed for the Operator to stabilize their firearm against their shoulder and attach at the back of the weapon. In general, lighter brace attachments tend to prioritize mobility (often increasing movement speed), while heavier ones provide greater benefits for accuracy (typically offering better flinch resistance).
Lasers:
Available on: Assault Rifles, SMGs, Shotguns, LMGs, Marksman Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Pistols.
Not Available on: Launchers, Melee Weapons.
Stat Benefit: Accuracy
As a gamer, I’ve noticed that the lasers mounted alongside my gaming rig (or underneath for pistols) often glow either red or green, making them easy to spot by my enemies. Yet, these lasers seem to enhance my precision and aim, making every shot count!
REMARK: The Tactical Laser activates the Tactical Position, providing a balance between agility and precision. This is how you can effectively apply the firing method from Modern Warfare® III in Black Ops 6.
Fire Mods:
Available on: Assault Rifles, SMGs, Shotguns, LMGs, Marksman Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Pistols.
Not Available on: Launchers, Melee Weapons.
Stat Benefit: Firepower, Accuracy, or Handling (Varies depending on Fire Mod)
Fire Modifications, serving multiple purposes, can generally be categorized into two primary groups: enhancements for weapon components (such as rapid-fire triggers, pump guide rods, and recoil springs) and specialized ammunition types (like Full Metal Jacket [FMJ] or Overpressured rounds).
Stock Pads:
Available on: Sniper Rifles*
Unavailable for selection: Assault rifles, submachine guns, shotguns (among others), light machine guns, marksman rifles, pistols, launchers, and melee weapons.
Stat Benefit: Accuracy
The attachment for the cushion on the buttstock is exclusive to the LW3A1 Frostline Sniper Rifle. This padding, when fitted onto the operator’s shoulder, enhances shooting accuracy noticeably by improving factors such as speed, sway, and recoil control.
In the wake of Black Ops 6’s initial season debut, players can anticipate an influx of additional weapons, maps, game modes, and other content. This rollout will coincide with both Warzone and Call of Duty: Mobile.
I’m super pumped! Mark your calendars for October 25th, ’cause that’s when I’ll be diving back into the action with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. It’s dropping on PS4, Xbox One, the brand-new PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, as well as PC. Can’t wait to jump in!
