Assassin’s Creed Shadows Reveals When the Claws of Awaji Expansion is Coming to Switch 2

Ubisoft plans to continue supporting Assassin’s Creed Shadows long after its 2025 release. Despite recent challenges, the studio has revealed a roadmap showing exciting updates coming this winter. As 2026 begins, players can expect more than just bug fixes – Ubisoft is committed to adding substantial new content to Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

The newest installment in the popular Assassin’s Creed series continues the age-old battle between the Templars and Assassins, this time set throughout history. It first launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in March 2025, followed by the ‘Claws of Awaji’ expansion in September. Later that year, Assassin’s Creed Shadows also came to the Switch 2, though it didn’t include the expansion. Because the game has been so successful for Ubisoft, they’ve released a plan detailing upcoming support and content.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Parkour Updates Incoming, Switch 2 DLC Launch in March

The winter update plan for Assassin’s Creed Shadows centers around three key improvements. The first update, arriving on February 17th, will include changes to how players move and navigate the world, based on feedback from the community. Ubisoft is adding a manual jump feature to the game, and to celebrate, they’re hosting a parkour challenge. Players can submit a 45-60 second video showcasing their skills with the new jump by March 8th on Twitter using #ACShadowsParkourChallenge. The community will then vote on the best videos on March 16th, with winners receiving prizes like a signed vinyl soundtrack, collector’s edition figures, and other exclusive items.

On February 17th, players can expect several improvements, including a new, detailed stats page and more noticeable, impactful visual effects for critical hits. The next major update arrives on March 10th, bringing the Claws of Awaji DLC to Switch 2 and a premium edition of the game. The winter update schedule concludes on March 20th with the game’s one-year anniversary, which also marks the end of the initial roadmap for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The anniversary celebration will include live streams and giveaways, though specific details are still to come.

Honestly, after all the drama before Assassin’s Creed Shadows came out, this roadmap is such a relief! So many games these days just slowly release content, but it feels like the developers are actually listening to us fans and building with us, not just at us. It’s amazing – even the parkour, which is super technical, is being tweaked based on what players are saying! It’s really cool to see a game team that genuinely seems to care about what we think.

Switch 2 owners have a lot to look forward to this winter, including the long-awaited Claws of Awaji expansion for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This expansion adds a brand-new region to explore, new weapons for the character Naoe, new enemy types, and over 10 hours of extra story content. While the DLC was available on other platforms, it was notably absent from the Switch 2 version – until now. Ubisoft is addressing this quickly, just a few months after the game’s initial release on the new console. In a gaming landscape often divided between ongoing live service games and traditional single-player experiences, Ubisoft seems to be successfully charting a course for the future of Assassin’s Creed, blending modern features with the series’ classic action and adventure.
