Pokemon GO Has Bad News for Fans of Popular Ghost-Type

Key Takeaways

  • Mimikyu won’t debut in Pokemon GO‘s Halloween 2024 event despite player requests to see the Ghost/Fairy-type finally added to the game.
  • Morpeko will be introduced soon, featuring a unique ability to switch between Electric and Dark types during battles.
  • The Halloween event will be split into two parts, with the second expected to run from October 28 to November 3.

As a dedicated Pokemon GO enthusiast with over a decade of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a tinge of disappointment upon learning that Mimikyu will not be making its debut at this year’s Halloween event. This enigmatic creature has long been a fan favorite due to its eerie origins and unique abilities, making it an exciting addition to the Pokemon universe.

It turns out that Mimikyu won’t make its debut during this year’s Halloween event in Pokemon GO. Over time, the game has expanded its Pokedex to include creatures from nine generations and their variations. However, the absence of certain pocket monsters is noticeable.

One significant missing entity in the game “Pokemon GO” is Mimikyu, a creature boasting one of the most chilling backstories from Generation 7. This Ghost/Fairy-type Pokemon disguises itself under an old Pikachu-like cloth, and its actual appearance remains unknown to all. Such mystery has led to tales suggesting that viewing Mimikyu’s genuine form could bring about a severe sickness or even death. Despite its eerie origins, Mimikyu has garnered immense affection among fans and Pokemon GO enthusiasts, who have regrettably learned some disappointing news.

As a dedicated Pokémon GO gamer, I was hoping to see Mimikyu make its debut during this year’s Halloween event, but unfortunately, it seems like my dreams might have to wait a bit longer. According to reports from Dot Esports, at a recent press conference, Kathy Woo, the senior product manager, announced that there are currently no plans to add Mimikyu to our augmented reality game. Despite the anticipation and requests from fellow trainers, it appears that Mimikyu will not be joining us this time around. However, Woo did express her interest in Mimikyu’s debut and hinted at Morpeko potentially being the first of many Pokémon with in-battle changes to grace our screens. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that we get to welcome Mimikyu to the world of Pokémon GO soon!

Pokemon GO Confirms No Mimikyu For This Year’s Halloween Event

Previously in August, Niantic announced the incorporation of Morpeko into Pokemon GO, introducing a distinct gameplay element. This creature, originating from Gen 8, can transition between Full Belly Mode, making it an Electric type, and Hangry Mode, transforming it into a Dark type. Mimikyu’s trick is comparable, as its Disguised Form refers to when its costume is intact. However, upon being struck by an attack, it transforms into Busted Form, with its neck tilted to one side and no longer resembling Pikachu. The adversary who caused the damage to the disguise becomes a target of intense resentment from Mimikyu, who will go to great lengths to exact revenge.

As trainers eagerly anticipate Mimikyu’s arrival in Pokemon GO, it appears that the spooky season will be filled with exciting catches. The Research Day on October 19 offered trainers the opportunity to capture Yamask and Galarian Yamask. The initial phase of the Halloween event within Pokemon GO starts from October 22 and continues until October 28, marking Morpeko’s debut. Although not confirmed yet, it is anticipated that the second part of the Halloween event will commence on October 28 and conclude on November 3.
