Where to Find the Three Dog Heads in Resident Evil 7

To leave the main house in Resident Evil 7 and progress in the game, you’ll need to find three Dog Head puzzle pieces – one white, one blue, and one red – hidden somewhere on the Baker family’s property. Once you have all three, place them in the northern door to unlock the way forward.

One of your first tasks in Resident Evil 7 is finding the three Dog Heads – white, blue, and red – but each one presents a unique challenge. This guide will show you exactly where to find all of them, and also suggests the best order to collect them in.

Blue Dog Head Location in Resident Evil 7

Here’s where to find the Blue Dog Head in Resident Evil 7:

  1. Head to the Recreation Room.
  2. Find the large book and examine it.

The Blue Dog Head is the easiest of the three to find. Head to the Recreation Room on the second floor – you might remember it as the place where the Mia VHS tape was in RE7. Look around the room, and you’ll find a large book sitting out in the open. Examine the book closely, and you’ll discover the Blue Dog Head hidden inside.

Red Dog Head Location in Resident Evil 7

Here’s how to get the Red Dog Head in Resident Evil 7:

  1. Get the Wooden Statuette from the bathtub on the second floor.
  2. Solve the shadow puzzle in the Main Hall.
  3. Head to the Basement.
  4. Go to the Incinerator Room.
  5. Solve the Incinerator Door Puzzle to get the Dissection Room key.
  6. Head to the Dissection Room and try to grab the Red Dog Head.
  7. Go back out the door, walk north, and take the Red Dog Head hanging above the Morgue.
  8. Survive the boss fight.

Getting the first Dog Head was pretty straightforward, but the Red Dog Head is much harder to find. It’s hidden in the basement of the slaughterhouse, which is full of dangerous enemies. Before you go down to the basement – look for the creepy white door after solving the shadow puzzle in the Main Hall with the Wooden Statuette – make sure you have plenty of health potions and ammunition.

Down in the basement, you’ll encounter the Molded – disturbing creatures created from the Baker family’s failed experiments. They’re strong and can defeat Ethan quickly, so it’s best to avoid them whenever possible to save ammo for the upcoming boss fight where you need to get the Red Dog Head. Alternatively, you can use the Shotgun in RE7 to quickly eliminate them and prevent them from pursuing you.

Before you can fight the boss, you’ll need to find the key to the Dissection Room. You can get this key by going to the Incinerator Room and defeating the Molded enemy there. To unlock the door nearest the entrance, you’ll have to open the incinerator doors in a specific sequence.

Here’s how to solve the Incinerator Door Puzzle:

  1. Open the door farthest to the right.
  2. Open the door with the bloody hand print in the middle.
  3. Go to the door farthest to the left.

A stronger Molded enemy will emerge from this door, so be cautious when you go to get the key. You can defeat it with a headshot using your Handgun or Shotgun, or simply grab the key and quickly run through the Boiler Room to reach the Dissection Room.

When you enter the Dissection Room and try to get the Red Dog Head, Jack will show up and steal it. After that, exit the room and head north. Look down into the Morgue, and you’ll see the Red Dog Head hanging there. Take it to begin the fight with Jack. Defeating Jack will finally give you the Red Dog Head.

White Dog Head Location in Resident Evil 7

Here’s where to find the White Dog Head in Resident Evil 7:

  1. Grab the pendulum from the clock in the Main Hall.
  2. Place the pendulum on the clock in the Living Room.

You can find this item before the Red or Blue Dog Heads, but we suggest getting it last. Putting the pendulum in the Living Room clock makes a loud noise that used to alert Jack. Since you’ve already handled Jack in the Morgue, he won’t chase you anymore, so timing isn’t as critical.

To get the White Dog Head, start in the Main Hall. Look for the grandfather clock leaning against the wall on the first floor and take the pendulum from it.

Bring the clock pendulum back to the kitchen – the same place where Ethan had that unsettling dinner. Next to the kitchen is the Living Room. Use the pendulum on the grandfather clock there to get the White Dog Head. The clock will chime loudly when you take it, but you’re safe as long as you’ve already fought Jack in the Morgue.

Once you’ve collected all three Dog Heads, go to the north door in the Main Hall and place them. This will allow you to leave the Main House in Resident Evil 7—at least for the time being.
