PlayStation kicked off 2026 with a fantastic State of Play presentation in February, revealing a lot of exciting games. Several of these titles are expected to launch on PlayStation consoles this year, while others will arrive later. Beyond what was shown at the event, there are also some upcoming PS5 games that are poised to become huge hits. While stunning visuals aren’t essential for a game to be great, they certainly add to the experience, particularly for big-budget AAA titles.
We’re expecting these games to be released by 2026, and it’s okay if they need a bit more development time. The most important thing is that they’re polished and enjoyable when they finally come out. Here’s a look at some beautiful PS5 games we’re excited to play soon.
Crimson Desert
The Next Big Fantasy
With the long-running success of Black Desert Online, there’s a lot of excitement surrounding Pearl Abyss’s new game, Crimson Desert. Unlike its predecessor, Crimson Desert is a single-player action-adventure game that promises the same thrilling combat the developer is known for. Set in a huge and beautiful open world, it has the potential to be one of the most visually stunning games on the PS5 when it releases in 2026 – and perhaps one of the best-looking games ever made.
Pearl Abyss, the creators of Black Desert Online, are known for beautiful graphics and smooth animation. Their new single-player game should be an even better way to show off their technology. What’s really exciting about Crimson Desert is the huge variety of things players can do. During combat, you can interact with the environment and even climb onto large creatures. Beyond fighting, you can fly dragons, compete in arm wrestling, go fishing, and enjoy many other activities.
Beast Of Reincarnation
Going Beyond Pokemon
Game Freak, the studio behind Pokemon, is developing a new game called Beast of Reincarnation. Unlike Pokemon, you won’t be catching creatures, but the main character teams up with a wolf to perform powerful combos. Set in a beautifully rendered post-apocalyptic world, players will work to restore nature to ruined cities. The game features vibrant colors and lots of plant life, and players can even control vines to fight enemies and navigate the environment.
Control Resonant
Paranormal NYC
Control Resonant is the newest game set in the Alan Wake world. This time, you play as Dylan, Jesse Faden’s sibling, and the story unfolds in a distorted version of New York City, rather than the Federal Bureau of Control building.
Players can use Dylan’s ability to manipulate gravity to move between different dimensions, offering fresh perspectives on the city. The visual effects are incredibly impressive, and Remedy Entertainment seamlessly handles these perspective shifts. Beyond the visuals, the game also features creatively designed enemies.
Grand Theft Auto 6
The Biggest Game Of 2026?
Honestly, I’m starting to wonder if Grand Theft Auto 6 will even come out in 2026! But even if it’s delayed past November, I’m sure it’s going to be massive. It reminds me of what happened in Japan with Dragon Quest 3 back in 1988 – people were so obsessed, they skipped school and work! I’m expecting something similar when GTA 6 finally drops.
Okay, so from what I’ve seen of Grand Theft Auto 6 so far, it’s seriously blowing everything Rockstar’s done before out of the water. It looks like they’re really aiming to max out what the consoles can do. The characters look incredibly realistic, the city feels way more alive and packed, and the outdoor areas? They’re practically photorealistic. I can already tell this game is going to completely take over my life for months, maybe even years!
Kena: Scars Of Kosmora
A Surprising Sequel
I was so excited when Kena: Bridge of Spirits came out in 2021 – it was a really fantastic action-adventure game that felt like a cool mix of Zelda and Pikmin, especially for PlayStation players. Now, the team at Ember Labs is back with Kena: Scars of Kosmora, planned for release in 2026, and it looks amazing! It’s definitely a bit darker and more serious in tone. Kena’s all grown up now, so the story seems to be tackling some bigger, more mature themes as she tries to save the world. From what I’ve seen, she’s getting some new friends to help her out, a cool mount to ride, and they’ve really improved the combat. I can’t wait!
The game’s visuals remain a standout feature, still resembling a Pixar film, just as they did in the first game. The new trailer showcased even more impressive graphics, building on what was already a beautiful game for the PS5.
Marvel’s Wolverine
Let The Claws Out
Insomniac Games showed with their Spider-Man games that they can deliver fantastic superhero experiences. That makes it likely their upcoming game, Marvel’s Wolverine, will be excellent too, even if it won’t have a large open world to explore. Early looks at the game are impressive, showcasing gritty and realistic visuals – like Wolverine’s claws slashing through enemies and an exciting motorcycle chase.
I was a little disappointed the recent PlayStation showcase didn’t have a ton of new announcements. But I’m hoping we’ll see more on Marvel’s Wolverine soon – it sounds like it’s aiming for a fall release, so maybe it’ll pop up again during a summer event!
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls
4v4 Fighting
Marvel fans can look forward to at least two new games in 2026, including one featuring Wolverine. The other is called Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, and it’s a fighting game with a unique twist: instead of the usual team-ups, it lets you battle with teams of four versus four players. The developers, Arc System Works, are well-known for making high-quality fighting games, so it’s expected to be a big title.
The recent PlayStation presentation showed off new characters like Wolverine, Magik, Storm, and Danger. While these aren’t all the X-Men fans might hope for, it’s a good beginning. Arc System Works has given these classic heroes a fresh look, and the game’s 2D graphics, with their vibrant designs and effects, are expected to remain visually appealing for years to come.
Sea Of Remnants
Sailing With Puppets
While there’s no firm release date yet, early beta testing of Sea of Remnants suggests this free-to-play pirate RPG is very likely to launch in 2026. It’s visually distinct from other pirate games, featuring unique wooden or puppet-like character designs and vibrant colors.
Players can explore a world by sailing between islands and gliding over towns. The game will also feature fun mini-games, and offer both real-time action and strategic turn-based combat, appealing to a wide range of RPG players.
Tomb Raider: Legacy Of Atlantis
Lara Is Back!
2026 is shaping up to be a big year for Lara Croft and the Tomb Raider franchise, marking its 30th anniversary with new games and a live-action series on Amazon. One of the games, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, is a full remake of the very first Tomb Raider. However, with only one trailer released – and much of it appearing to be computer-generated – it’s difficult to get a clear idea of what the final game will be like.
The game’s trailer looks fantastic, and we’re hoping the final version has equally impressive jungles and tombs. The updated controls and larger areas to explore could revitalize the Lara Croft series, much like the original game did back on the PlayStation.
