Where To Get Fertilizer in Starsand Island

Once you begin planning your garden, fertilizer will be a helpful resource, but you can only get it after earning your Apprentice Farmer certification. When you do, talk to Graminova, your Farming mentor at the Happiness Seed Shop. She’ll let you buy things like seeds, young trees, tools, and building plans, depending on how far you’ve progressed in Farming.

You can buy different kinds of fertilizer at the seed shop after you’ve improved your Farming skill. Ripening and Yield Fertilizer I becomes available once you reach the Apprentice Farmer level by finishing the corresponding Farming quests.

You can purchase five bags of Ripening Fertilizer I for 15 Coins, and five bags of Yield Fertilizer I for 120 Coins. Once you become a Junior Farmer, Ripening Fertilizer II and Yield Fertilizer II become available for 60 and 780 Coins respectively, both for a pack of five bags.

Once you become an Intermediate Farmer, you can buy Ripening Fertilizer III for 180 Coins and Gmax Fertilizer III for 320 Coins – both prices are for a pack of five bags. If you reach the Senior Farmer level, Nutrient Soil IV becomes available and costs 250 Coins for a five-bag pack.

Okay, so if you want to make your own fertilizer, you’ll need to build a Fertilizer Box. You can get the plans for it at the Happiness Seed Shop. Once you have it built, it takes different materials to make different kinds of fertilizer. Just like with buying fertilizer, you’ll need to level up your Farming skill to unlock the blueprints and be able to gather the stuff you need from foraging and mining before you can actually craft anything at the Workbench.

How To Best Use Fertilizer in Starsand Island

The best way to use fertilizer depends on what you’re trying to achieve in your garden – whether you want better quality plants or a bigger harvest. Once you’ve planted your seeds, make sure the fertilizer is selected in your hotbar before you click on the garden plot to use it.

To fertilize your crops, select the fertilizer and then move your cursor over the planted plot. Press the action button to apply it. Remember to check the seed information – it tells you the best planting season, harvest time, and how much you’ll get from each crop.

This will help you choose the right fertilizer to either get more crops per harvest or make them grow faster. Ripening Fertilizers I, II, and III speed up growth by immediately adding eight, thirteen, and twenty-five hours to the crop’s growth time, respectively.

Yield Fertilizer I and II will boost plant growth, increasing the harvest by 50% and 150% when the plants are fully grown. Gmax Fertilizer III is special because it’s designed for seasonal crops and raises the chance of beneficial mutations by 15%. You can’t use it alongside other fertilizers, though.

Nutrient Soil IV is a special fertilizer designed only for flower seeds. When flowers grown with it mature, there’s a 15% higher chance they’ll be pollinated. Plus, unlike Gmax Fertilizer III, you can use Nutrient Soil IV along with other fertilizers to give your plants an extra boost.
