We’ve received confirmation from a trusted source that physical copies of Resident Evil Requiem are already appearing in stores and players are getting to play the full game. This is happening more than a week before the official release date of February 27th.
Capcom first hinted at Resident Evil Requiem in July 2024, and fully revealed it at Summer Game Fest 2025. Since then, the game has been featured in several gaming events, including The Game Awards, a Nintendo Partner Showcase, and the latest Sony State of Play. However, details about the story remain largely unknown, and marketing materials have primarily focused on what appear to be the game’s opening areas.
PSA: Resident Evil Requiem Copies Are Already Out in the Wild
It appears some fans are discovering the secrets of Resident Evil Requiem ahead of its official release. On February 17th, reports began surfacing that physical copies of the game were available in certain stores, and a few customers had already bought it. Leaker Dusk Golem confirmed these reports, stating they knew of at least one person who purchased Resident Evil Requiem early from a retailer, and shared pictures of the game’s steelbook edition. While Dusk Golem hadn’t seen any spoilers yet, they warned that more early purchases are likely, meaning spoilers could surface soon.
As a big Resident Evil fan, I’ve been following Dusk Golem for a while now, and they’ve proven to be incredibly accurate. They were one of the very first to share details about Resident Evil Requiem way before Capcom officially announced it at SGF 2025. Plus, they were adamant that Leon Kennedy would play a major role – even a co-protagonist – in the new survival horror game, and stuck to that prediction even when Capcom initially said he wouldn’t be the main focus. It’s been amazing to see how often they’ve been right!
How To Avoid Resident Evil Requiem Spoilers
Since their initial warning post on X, Dusk Golem has created a follow-up post attempting to help fans who wish to avoid Resident Evil Requiem spoilers in the run-up to its February 27 release date. They state that YouTube is often “one of the worst offenders” for spoilers, so those looking to go into RE Requiem blind should try to avoid the platform altogether or only visit the site via Incognito Mode in their browser so as to avoid personal recommendations. Dusk Golem also suggests that fans mute keywords on any social media they use, and provides a comprehensive list of terms that fans might want to flag, such as legacy character names, monster names, and phrases such as “Death,” “Dies,” and “Dead.”
The latest trailer for Resident Evil Requiem showed that the game’s story will center around a strange virus impacting survivors of Raccoon City, including the returning hero Leon Kennedy. Fans are already speculating about what will happen to Leon, and they’re understandably hoping to avoid spoilers before the game releases in 10 days. Resident Evil Requiem is also celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Resident Evil franchise, hinting that other familiar characters might appear – something fans want to discover for themselves when they play the game.
