I’ve been following the One Piece story, and things are really escalating in the Elbaf arc. The newest chapter just revealed what might be one of the strongest Devil Fruit powers we’ve seen yet – Loki’s dragon fruit. It was hinted at as a national treasure, and chapter 1174 finally showed Loki transforming into a massive dragon, unleashing lightning all over the country. It was quite a spectacle!

Loki is undoubtedly one of the most powerful characters in the series. The author even hinted at this, calling him the strongest being, which highlights just how incredibly strong his Devil Fruit power is. However, despite being incredibly powerful, Loki isn’t the strongest. The Yami Yami no Mi remains the most dominant Devil Fruit in the world of One Piece.

Loki made a huge impact when he first appeared in One Piece. Big Mom revealed that if Loki had married her daughter Lola, she would have become strong enough to defeat all other pirate crews – even powerful groups led by Whitebeard – and claim the title of Pirate King. At the time, fans didn’t fully grasp how significant this statement was, but recent events in Elbaf clearly show that Big Mom was telling the truth about Loki’s immense power.

The Elbaf arc of One Piece repeatedly emphasized the immense power of Loki. The giants of Elbaf warned that unleashing him could destroy the entire world, not just their country. This threat is supported by the World Government’s massive 2.6 billion berry bounty on his head, and the fact that only Shanks was considered capable of stopping him. These factors clearly establish Loki as an incredibly dangerous opponent, a result of the powerful Devil Fruit he consumed 14 years prior at Aurust Castle.

Loki possessed a Devil Fruit called the National Treasure of Elbaf, a legendary power passed down through the royal family for generations. No one had been able to consume it for centuries until Loki. The fruit’s power is immense, allowing him to transform into a colossal black dragon, strongly believed to be Nidhogg. This dragon can control lightning and likely also fire. Beyond that, the dragon is incredibly huge, potentially capable of destroying the entire world.

Although Loki’s Devil Fruit is incredibly powerful and could potentially cause global destruction, it’s not the strongest one out there. That title belongs to Blackbeard’s Yami Yami no Mi. The series has consistently shown this Devil Fruit to be the most powerful of them all.

While many Devil Fruits grant incredibly strong or even god-like abilities, the Yami Yami no Mi is unique because it can completely negate those powers. It’s specifically designed to absorb the power of other Devil Fruits, meaning even someone as powerful as Imu, who is essentially a god within the One Piece world, is vulnerable to it. For example, a strong character like Loki wouldn’t be able to use their abilities against Blackbeard, and Luffy can’t maintain his powerful Gear 5 form when the Yami Yami no Mi is active. This makes it arguably the strongest Devil Fruit of them all.

Blackbeard’s power has been steadily increasing throughout the story, and it feels like Eiichiro Oda is preparing him to be the primary antagonist. He’s likely to become a major threat, even to Imu, in the final arc, and his Devil Fruit ability may ultimately be able to counter Imu’s own powerful abilities. Blackbeard’s darkness will likely prove overwhelming for everyone, including all Devil Fruit users like Luffy, Loki, and even Imu himself.
