Jujutsu Kaisen Officially Confirms When Yuji Itadori Will Die

The latest arc of Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo has brought Yuji Itadori, the main character, back into the story. As the series nears its conclusion, the author is now focusing on what happens to characters from the beginning. Fans have long speculated about Yuji’s fate, even predicting his death. However, the recent chapters of JJK Modulo have confirmed that he won’t be dying anytime soon, offering fans reassurance.

Yuji Itadori Will Die After 300 Years In JJK Modulo

Yuji Is Aging Slowly

I was hooked on JJK Modulo right away, and it quickly became clear that Yuji Itadori hadn’t actually died! Then, in the second volume, he officially returned, and Nobara even revealed something incredible – his body had stopped aging! It was heartbreaking to see him witness all his friends pass away, and that’s what led him to withdraw from the world. He used to be the strongest of us, but when he vanished, it completely shook things up in the entire sorcerer community.

When the fighting between humans and the Simurians began, Yuji Itadori came back to Tokyo. It became obvious then that he wasn’t aging like a normal person, proving Nobara’s earlier observation to be true. While many fans previously believed Yuji was immortal, that now appears unlikely.

Even so, I’ll do it. I’ll bear the burden myself. — Yuji Itadori

Yuji ages much slower than most people, likely because of the unusual circumstances of his birth and his consumption of the Death Paintings. He was specifically created by Kenjaku as a vessel for Ryomen Sukuna, giving him a naturally superhuman body with exceptional strength, athleticism, and vitality – comparable to the most powerful beings. While his birth already altered his aging process, it was further impacted when he consumed Death Paintings 4 through 9 before the Shinjuku Showdown, which made his blood poisonous and granted him the ability to manipulate it.

Similar to the Death Paintings who existed for over a hundred years, Yuji Itadori appears to have the same extended lifespan, leading many to think he’s immortal. However, in JJK Modulo Chapter 22, Yuji clarifies that he will live for another 300 years. This means he isn’t truly immortal, but ages incredibly slowly and won’t die for centuries. As Yuji and Maru remove cursed energy from all of Japan, Yuji plans to protect everyone and take responsibility for the consequences of this action.

The Special Scenario For Yuji’s Death

Even though Yuji Itadori is destined to live for another 300 years, bringing his total lifespan close to 400, there’s still one way he could die: if all cursed energy were to disappear from Japan.

Currently, Yuji and Maru plan to eliminate cursed energy from future generations. This means that children born in Japan, including those with Simurian lineage, won’t be able to use cursed energy. Those who already have cursed energy – both current Simurians and human sorcerers – will retain their abilities. Consequently, Yuji will keep his powers and continue living for another three hundred years.

If Maru and Yuji ever decided that removing cursed energy from everyone was the priority, Yuji would lose all his powers. Essentially, he’d become powerless and would die like any normal person soon after.

However, it’s unlikely that will happen soon. Currently, Yuji plans to remain in Japan for centuries, accepting any consequences for eliminating cursed energy. This path will eventually lead to his evolution, and he’ll increasingly resemble Tengen – a fitting conclusion to his story.

JJK Modulo will continue with chapter 23 on February 22, 2026.
