Honestly, I never expected a game like Mewgenics to be so relaxing and comforting! It totally surprised me, but I’m loving every minute of it!
There’s a simple pleasure in organizing and arranging things, creating room and then watching your quirky collection come to life. Whether it’s cute side tables, unusual glowing bottles, or even cabinets with a creepy, decaying look, every cat has something to enjoy here. How delightful!
In Mewgenics, gathering furniture and upgrading your home is incredibly helpful, so let’s explore the advantages of furniture and the best ways to collect a lot of it!
How to Get Furniture
NPC trading

You’ll start the game with a fairly empty house. After all, no cat wants to play in a place with nothing in it!
You’ll meet Baby Jack, a quirky character, who will teach you about furniture. Every Sunday, he offers a variety of furniture for sale.
If you give him injured cats, he’ll add a special item to his shop when he gets new stock! While not all of his furniture is amazing, some pieces Jack sells can really help your game. Make sure you have plenty of coins saved up, because you don’t want to miss out on those rare, powerful items!
Once you upgrade Tracy enough times, she’ll begin selling Idols. These Idols permanently boost the stats of a single room.
If you find your house is getting crowded with cats, you can always add more by giving retired cats to Frank, letting your collection grow even larger. This isn’t just about having lots of cats, though – you can put them in separate rooms to control which ones breed together. If cats breed too closely with relatives, their kittens can be born with serious health problems that will negatively affect their abilities.
Furniture from Adventures
You don’t have to spend money to get furniture! You can also earn it by completing tasks in the game.
If you like tackling the challenging paths in Act 1, you may have come across a decision: take a rare chest with a random item, or a small box. This box, known as the furniture box, can be equipped to your cat, giving it +8 shield but reducing its speed by 5.
This item isn’t usually worth equipping unless you’re in a tough spot and really need extra defense to survive. While you can use teleportation to lessen the speed penalty it creates, it’s best considered a final resort.
Instead, just hold onto the box in your inventory. When your team gets back to base, it will open and give you a random piece of furniture. It’s usually something basic, but it could be worth up to 100 coins, making it a valuable item to keep. You can collect up to two boxes during each game, so be careful not to lose them!
If the box is damaged while your cat is wearing it, the item inside will be lost. You don’t have to keep the item equipped to get what’s inside later.
After you progress to Act 2 in the Bunker and the Crater, you’ll start finding special boxes called Rare Furniture Boxes. These boxes contain furniture pieces that are more valuable than usual. I recently found one after completing a Core run, and it gave me a Candlestick that increased my Appeal by +4.
Using your Furniture
Stats and Bonuses
Now that you have some furniture, let’s look at what it does. If you move your cursor over each item, you’ll see it provides different stat boosts or reductions. Here’s a breakdown of what those stats do:
- Appeal: Pieces that grant appeal stats affect the whole house, unlike the stats that follow. Placing one of these affects the quality of the cats that arrive at your house at the start of each new day. Higher appeal will cause them to generally have better base stats and more powerful passive abilities.
- Comfort: Items that give comfort will improve the likelihood that cats inside this room will mate and produce kittens, as well as bolster the chance that 2 kittens will be born instead of just 1. The more comfortable cats are, the less likely they are to fight with each other. Having too many cats in 1 room will make it less comfortable. Having a clean room is important too!
- Stimulation: If you’re looking to breed some powerful kittens, stimulation is crucial. The higher the stimulation, the more likely parents are to pass down their important stats, abilities and mutations. This is more powerful later on in the game when mutations are more common.
- Health: Health stats on an item increase the chance that injuries will heal overnight. Injuries are pretty common and can be inflicted when cats fight in the house or when your cat goes down on an adventure run. Injuries decrease your stats, so these should be avoided at all costs. In addition, having a dirty environment will also decrease Health.
- Mutation: A piece that offers a mutation bonus will make it more likely for cats to mutate and evolve during the night. Mutations can give powerful bonuses like increased stats and extra effects during your attacks. However, these furniture items are more likely to have negative effects, such as reducing Health and Comfort, so be careful not to add too many.
Item Placement
Furniture with flat surfaces lets you put things on top of it. Stacking furniture can help you maximize space in a room and even make your cats happier.
Furniture and decorations are divided into categories like floor items—tables, chairs, and lamps—and wall items—posters, paintings, and shelves. To redesign your space, just drag the items to the panel on the left and experiment with different arrangements.
