Marvels Spider-Man 3s Miles Morales May Have More to Lose Than Ever

Marvels Spider-Man 3s Miles Morales May Have More to Lose Than Ever

As a seasoned fan of the Spider-Man saga, I can confidently say that Miles Morales has truly come into his own as a character in Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise. While Peter Parker has undeniably been the face of the franchise since its inception, it’s clear that Insomniac has been strategically building up Miles, and it’s paying off.

In the world of Marvel, Peter Parker, known for his colorful suit, wall-crawling abilities, and web-slinging prowess, has been a constant figure of determination. This is just as true for the Spider-Man franchise, and it’s evident that Insomniac has been gradually introducing Miles Morales to players since the beginning. In essence, Miles had a minor part in Marvel’s Spider-Man, became the main character in Miles Morales, and shares equal screen and gameplay time with Peter Parker in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

In the final installment of “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2,” it appears that Peter may step aside, allowing Miles to take on a greater role as the primary Spider-Man in New York City. This shift further highlights Miles’ importance within the series and underscores his distinct challenges, as he now bears more responsibility and risk compared to his mentor, Peter. It remains uncertain if Peter will fully give up his web shooters, but it seems that both characters could be active in a potential future game.

Marvel’s Spider-Man’s Peter Parker Has Lost More Than His Fair Share

In addition to the loss of his uncle nearly eight years before the storyline of Marvel’s Spider-Man, Peter experiences another profound sorrow with the death of his aunt at the game’s conclusion. This poignant scene carries a heavy emotional impact due to its connection to Devil’s Breath—a previously low-stakes chemical weapon developed by Oscorp—and the difficult decision that Peter is compelled to make concerning it.

In an instant, Peter decides against using the remaining restorative serum to save May Parker, preferring instead to help the many sick citizens of New York City. This dilemma between serving the greater good and personal sacrifice is a familiar one, but it’s made all the more poignant by Peter’s role in this selfless act and the tragic outcome for May, who understandably accepts her fate as she gazes upon her nephew.

In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, this grief is largely taken along, though it remains hidden on a very profound, unconscious level for both Martin Li and Miles to experience directly.

During Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Peter experiences a double blow: he loses May, and also Otto Octavius, his scientific mentor and partner who transformed into a villain seeking revenge on Norman Osborn. Along the way, Peter reconnects with Harry Osborn, only to see him fall into a coma. This leaves Mary Jane Watson as the mainstay in Peter’s life. MJ is incredibly important to Peter, and it would be heart-wrenching for him to lose her. However, after so much loss, Peter’s circle of friends has become quite small.

Miles Morales’ Biggest Strength Might Be His Biggest Weakness in Marvel’s Spider-Man 3

In a different way, Miles’ family consists of his mother Rio Morales, uncle Aaron Davis, close friend Ganke Lee, girlfriend Hailey Cooper, and potentially Cindy Moon as a future stepsister. Sadly, he has lost his father, Jefferson Davis, and childhood buddy Phin Mason. However, his group remains vibrant and welcoming as they move forward into the next storyline of Marvel’s Spider-Man.

Aaron has put aside his Prowler identity and appears to be a respectable man now. For instance, and Miles is starting a romantic journey with Hailey, hoping their relationship will have enough time to mature.

In summary, Insomniac faces a tough decision: either Miles’ story in the final Marvel’s Spider-Man game concludes with him living happily with his loved ones, or he endures hardships that might provide valuable lessons for his future. However, since Miles has many close connections, it seems potential adversaries could exploit these relationships, making Miles’ adventures as Spider-Man potentially more perilous compared to Peter’s in the series going forward.
