Battlefield 6’s Season 2 introduced chemical warfare with a new playlist called VL-7 Contaminated. This mode takes place on the Contaminated map, a NATO base located in a mountain valley. Players will battle in and around underground facilities and fortified positions, all covered in a hallucinogenic smoke called VL-7. It’s a chaotic addition to the standard Battlefield 6 gameplay, and we’ve got all the details on what it has to offer.
Battlefield 6 VL-7 Strike Mode, Explained
So, Season 2 dropped, and they added a new playlist called VL-7 Contaminated Warfare. It’s pretty unique – you only play on the Contaminated map, and the game cycles through Conquest, Escalation, and Breakthrough. But the coolest part? The map is covered in these huge clouds of hallucinogenic smoke over the capture points. It really messes with your vision, making things way more chaotic and interesting!
Currently, the smoke clouds from VL-7 are only visible on the Contaminated map and within the VL-7 playlist in Battlefield 6. Other maps in the game haven’t been affected, but this could change with future updates.
What is VL-7 Smoke in Battlefield 6?
In Battlefield 6, the VL-7 gas is different from the chemical weapons in Battlefield 1. It doesn’t cause physical damage; instead, it messes with your mind. When you’re in the gas, you’ll experience hallucinations – things like blurry vision, seeing phantom enemies and false signals on your map, and hearing sounds that aren’t there. It will be difficult to tell friend from foe, and you’ll be thoroughly disoriented if you enter a gas cloud without protection.
VL-7 gas is also present in RedSec LTM modes in Season 2.
How to Equip Gas Masks in BF6
Okay, so if you want to put on your gas mask, you just hold down the ‘X’ key on your keyboard, or press Up on the D-pad if you’re using a controller. Seriously, you need to wear one – it stops that nasty VL-7 smoke from getting to your brain! Just be aware that it does narrow your vision a bit, so it’s a little harder to see everything happening around you, but it’s totally worth it to stay safe.
Okay, so I learned the hard way that if you hang out in those VL-7 clouds for too long, your gas mask filter will run out! You’ll see the little gas mask icon on your screen start to empty as soon as you fly into a cloud. Once it’s completely gone, the VL-7 gas will start hurting you like normal. Luckily, you can find Supply Bags to refill your filter and keep you safe!
VL-7 smoke appears very dense when viewed from a distance, but it’s actually much thinner inside the cloud. This means it will be extremely hard to see and hit enemies through the smoke without a way to detect targets in three dimensions. However, visibility improves significantly once you’re within the smoke itself.
