The cyberpunk action-platformer Replaced, developed by Sad Cat Studios for Xbox and PC, will now be released on April 14, 2026. This is the newest delay for the game, which was originally revealed back in 2021 at Xbox’s last E3 presentation.
Originally announced in 2022, the release of Replaced has been delayed several times. After initially aiming for a 2022 launch, the game was pushed to 2023, then to 2024, with developer Sad Cat Studios explaining they wanted to ensure the quality of their first game. Further delays followed, and in August 2025, a Spring 2026 release was targeted. Finally, in December 2025, a firm release date of March 12, 2026, was announced.
Replaced Has Been Delayed to April 2026
Okay, so I just saw the news, and unfortunately, Replaced is being delayed again. Sad Cat Studios announced on X today that it’s now coming out on April 14, 2026. They said the game is actually finished, which is great! But they want to take a little more time to make sure everything is really polished, stable, and lives up to what they’ve been promising us. It’s a bummer it’s taking longer, but I’d rather they take the time to get it right.

Sad Cat Studios recently shared an update about the delay of their game, Replaced, and the positive response to the demo released on February 11th. The developers were thrilled with the overwhelming support and are using player feedback to improve the game. They thanked the community for their patience over the past few years and reminded everyone that the demo is still available to play. Replaced is now scheduled to launch on Xbox Series X/S and PC on April 14, 2026.
Yes, Replaced will be available to play on Xbox Game Pass starting April 14th. It was originally planned for release in March, which would have meant it launched on the service alongside Final Fantasy 3, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, and Planet of Lana 2. However, as of now, Replaced is the only game confirmed to be added to Xbox Game Pass in April 2026.
The new April release date for Replaced means it’s launching in a month that’s just as packed with new games as March. April starts with the bright and colorful side-scrolling adventure, Darwin’s Paradox!, from Konami. Just two days later comes the highly anticipated Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, followed a week later by Masters of Albion (reportedly Peter Molyneux’s final game), Tides of Tomorrow, and Pragmata. The month will finish strongly with the Vessel of Hatred expansion for Diablo 4, Invincible VS, and Saros.
Despite a growing number of highly anticipated games releasing in April, Replaced is still expected to attract a lot of attention. The game has been on many fans’ wishlists for five years, and recent previews have been very positive. For example, Victoria Phillips Kennedy from Eurogamer called Replaced “potentially special,” highlighting its compelling story, impressive world, engaging combat, and beautiful art style.
