Ultra Instinct immediately became one of the most exciting and powerful transformations ever seen in Dragon Ball when it debuted in the Tournament of Power. Originally a technique used by the Angels, Goku was the first mortal to achieve it, although his version wasn’t as strong as theirs.
The Dragon Ball Super manga later showed that Ultra Instinct isn’t a simple on/off ability – there are actually different levels of mastery. Right now, Goku is only at the very beginning of learning it. This article will explore transformations from the series that are more powerful than Goku’s current use of Ultra Instinct.
Ultra Ego Is The Technique Of The Destroyer Gods
Users: Vegeta, All Destroyer Gods
While Ultra Instinct is the strongest defensive technique across all universes, Ultra Ego is its counterpart – the most powerful offensive ability in the world of Dragon Ball. It’s the natural skill of the Destroyer Gods, letting them control and use the Energy of Destruction, which can completely erase anything it touches.

During the Granolah arc, Vegeta achieved the powerful Ultra Ego transformation as a path to greater strength. Initially, Ultra Ego seemed even stronger than Goku’s Ultra Instinct, as Vegeta outperformed against Granolah, forcing him to transform to keep up. However, Ultra Ego is still new and somewhat unstable, making it less consistent than Ultra Instinct.
The Beast Form Brought Its User Up To The Strongest Level
User: Gohan
A big debate among Dragon Ball fans centers around whether Gohan Beast is actually more powerful than Goku in his Ultra Instinct form. This idea gained traction after the Super Hero arc, when Gohan questioned whether Goku or Vegeta could have defeated Cell Max.
In chapter 103, Goku and Gohan had a sparring match that was evenly matched for the most part. However, Gohan briefly reached a power level where he was faster than Goku’s Ultra Instinct, knocking him out of the form. While most believe this puts them at equal strength, some fans think Gohan’s new form, Beast, actually makes him stronger.
The Second Red-Eye Form Overpowered Ultra Ego
User: Granolah
After making a wish on the Cerealian Dragon Balls, Granolah became the strongest being in Universe 7. He was so powerful that even Goku in his Ultra Instinct form couldn’t compete. Granolah proved this by quickly defeating Goku and forcing him out of the Ultra Instinct transformation with just one blow.
Granolah became significantly more powerful during his battle with Ultra Ego Vegeta. Although Vegeta initially dominated after transforming into his Destroyer form, Granolah later awakened his full potential with Two Red Eyes, effectively doubling his strength and making him the strongest fighter at that point.

Gas Achieved His Awakened State And Took On All The Heroes
User: Gas

After Granolah’s story concluded, the next major antagonist became obvious. The Heeters arrived, introducing Gas, who had transformed using the Cerealian Dragon Balls – just like Granolah – by making a wish.
Gas’s incredible power actually came from constantly needing to overcome the strength of others to remain the universe’s strongest. This process ultimately left him a shadow of his former self. Even so, it took the combined might of Goku, Vegeta, and Granolah at their absolute peaks to defeat him, establishing Gas as the second strongest fighter in that story arc.
True Ultra Instinct Made Work Of Saiyan Emotions
User: Goku
As a huge Dragon Ball fan, I was so hyped when Goku unlocked Mastered Ultra Instinct! It’s the technique the Angels use, and it seemed like the absolute peak of power. But it turned out to be a bit of a double-edged sword. While in that state, he couldn’t tap into his Saiyan abilities – all that incredible growth and adaptation we love! That’s why, during his fight with Gas, he got overwhelmed so quickly. It was frustrating to watch, honestly, because his Saiyan power is such a huge part of what makes Goku, Goku!
During the battle, Goku understood he needed to evolve his Ultra Instinct technique to continue getting stronger, ultimately unlocking True Ultra Instinct. He noted that this new form made him even more powerful than Gas, something he hadn’t been able to say when using regular Mastered Ultra Instinct.
Black Frieza Is The Strongest Mortal In The Mutliverse
User: Frieza
The way the Granolah arc concluded was completely unexpected. The Heeters tried to lure Frieza to Planet Cereal, hoping Gas could defeat him once and for all. However, they didn’t realize Frieza had secretly spent ten years training, allowing him to reach his full potential and transform into the powerful Black Frieza.
Frieza’s recent power increase puts him far beyond anyone else we’ve seen in the series, leading many to think he’s as strong as a Destroyer God like Beerus. He defeated Gas with no effort and quickly knocked even the strongest heroes out of their most powerful transformations, making him undeniably the strongest mortal being currently.
