Assassin’s Creed Shadows Early Access Cancelled by Ubisoft

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that Ubisoft’s latest turn of events regarding Assassin’s Creed Shadows has left me scratching my head more than scaling a tall cathedral tower. The game, which was initially slated for November 15, has been delayed not once, but twice, and now we’re looking at February 14.

Initially scheduled for release on November 15, Assassin’s Creed Shadows encountered a significant delay and was moved to February 14 instead. After some debates over design issues related to certain merchandise, Ubisoft has now announced that there will be no early access to the game.

Despite the excitement surrounding it, actually getting to use the final product is turning out to be quite an arduous process.

Making Changes

On the Discord server for Assassin’s Creed, an official question and answer session disclosed fresh insights about the limited edition collector’s set of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This impressive collection, initially valued close to $300, was originally marketed as a substantial package.

Per the Q&A session, some monumental changes have been made:

  • The early access portion of the offering has been cancelled. It will now be released on February 14 alongside the base game
  • The game’s season pass has been scrapped, so this will understandably not be included with the collector’s edition as planned

The modifications you see indicate a drop in the game’s price. It has been reduced from approximately $279 to $229. Ubisoft also mentioned that they might make additional adjustments to the collector’s edition’s appearance, statue, steelbook, art book, and other elements.

The modifications could stem from challenges Ubisoft has faced so far in ensuring historical authenticity and culturally sensitive portrayal. Any additional controversies in these areas might seal the fate of this game, making it a public relations disaster. (Paraphrased)

It appears that the Premium Version of Assassin’s Creed Shadows was initially set to launch three days ahead of schedule, along with a season pass. However, considering these recent statements, it seems highly likely that the cost of this edition, as well as the digital version and early access period, will be reduced.
