Noob Saibot Opens the Door For One Character’s Return in MK2

As a lifelong Mortal Kombat enthusiast who’s seen more than a fair share of tournaments and character roster changes, I can confidently say that Frost is a prime candidate for joining the roster of the next Mortal Kombat game. With Sub-Zero transforming into Noob Saibot in Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns, it’s left a vacant spot for an ice-wielding ninja – and who better to fill that role than our frosty friend Frost?

In the expansion “Khaos Reigns” for Mortal Kombat 1, Noob Saibot played a dual role – expanding the roster and advancing a new era’s storyline. This role could potentially pave the way for an older fighter to return in the next game. Since much can alter between two games, there are many possibilities for Mortal Kombat’s new era. Given recent events, it appears that one particular fighter might stand a good chance of making a comeback.

Despite the fact that some anticipated characters were absent in Mortal Kombat 1’s Khaos Reigns, it effectively contributed to the game’s development. The three guest characters will be rolled out gradually, similar to the initial DLC release. However, the modernized versions of Noob Saibot, Cyrax, and Sektor were all introduced simultaneously. This strategic move makes sense given their importance in Khaos Reigns’ narrative. Their arrival signifies a significant change in the established order before Mortal Kombat 2, and the next Mortal Kombat installment will introduce a fresh aspect to handle – the new Lin Kuei.

Frost is a Prime Candidate to Join the Roster of the Next Mortal Kombat

Sub-Zero Becomes Noob Saibot in Mortal Kombat 1 Khaos Reigns

In a similar fashion to his earlier character, Mortal Kombat 1’s Bi-Han, who was known as Sub-Zero, undergoes a change during the events of Khaos Reigns. Following an encounter with Titan Havik, he is reborn as Noob Saibot. Alongside this new identity comes a shift in his combat style; his moveset has been replaced. This transformation strips him of his ice powers, which he previously used as Sub-Zero. Instead, he now possesses abilities centered around darkness, such as creating shadow clones and portals. This alteration effectively distinguishes Noob Saibot from Sub-Zero and leaves the roster of Mortal Kombat 2 seemingly lacking the archetype that Sub-Zero typically provides.

Frost Can Be Mortal Kombat 2’s Resident Ice-Wielder

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but feel excited about the upcoming Mortal Kombat sequel! Although we might not recognize Sub-Zero in his familiar form, it doesn’t diminish my anticipation for an ice ninja joining the roster. Who knows? We may even witness a new interpretation or twist on the iconic character that maintains its essence while offering something fresh and exciting.

Well, I’ve encountered this character named Frost in the past timelines, and her name sure fits her role as a ninja who wields cryomancy in battles. Interestingly, she made an appearance as a Kameo fighter in the first game, but hints of her presence in the new era were dropped even before our fights. That suggests she might be back in action soon. With Sub-Zero losing his ice powers, it seems like Frost could step up and claim that vacant spot on the roster.

Frost’s Story Can Get Remixed in Mortal Kombat’s New Era

As an ice ninja, Frost has always been tied to Sub-Zero. But there’s more to my reason for coming back than just that. In Mortal Kombat, I was his apprentice, but I went rogue. With all these characters getting a fresh start, it might be the same for me. Even if I remain Sub-Zero’s student, Bi-Han being evil could bring some intriguing shifts. Maybe I’ll be an ambitious apprentice as hinted before, or perhaps I’ll turn into an independent villain. Or maybe, in this new era, I’ll rebel and even join the heroes after all.

Bi-Han’s transformation significantly altered the power structure within the new era of Mortal Kombat, making Frost a potential character for the sequel an intriguing choice. Not only would she provide players with a reliable option for freezing opponents, but she could also bring freshness to the Lin Kuei’s evolving dynamics. Following Mortal Kombat 1, it is expected that new characters will be introduced to the roster.
