One Piece Officially Has A New Swordsman Stronger Than Roronoa Zoro

Roronoa Zoro is widely considered one of the most formidable swordsmen in the world of One Piece. As the first member to join Luffy’s crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, Zoro plays a key role in the story. Over time, his swordsmanship has improved dramatically, solidifying his place as one of the strongest fighters in the series.

With One Piece now in its final arc, it’s no surprise to fans that Zoro has become incredibly skilled with a sword. However, he isn’t yet the strongest swordsman in the world. The series recently revealed Dorry, a member of the Giant Pirates, as even more powerful, and the author has officially confirmed Dorry’s superiority over Zoro.

Zoro Is One Of The Strongest Swordsmen In The World Right Now

Zoro is a tremendously powerful character in the final arc of One Piece. He’s famous for his unique Three-Sword Style and complete control of all forms of Haki, allowing him to unleash incredible power. He’s defeated many strong opponents, including King, a top commander under Kaido. However, Zoro isn’t the strongest swordsman in the world of One Piece; there are still many fighters who surpass his skill. The recent events in Elbaf have revealed another one of these swordsmen: Dorry, the co-captain of the Giant Pirates.

Fans first met Dorry during the Little Garden arc of One Piece, and at the time, he didn’t appear very powerful – his initial bounty was just 100 million berries. However, when accounting for inflation, that bounty is now equivalent to 1.8 billion berries, surpassing Zoro’s. Adding to his strength, Dorry has been granted immortality, regeneration, and enhanced power through Imu’s Domi Reversi ability. Considering all of this, Dorry is definitively the stronger swordsman, a fact confirmed by Zoro himself in Chapter 1173 of One Piece.

Zoro Was Scared To Face Dorry And Brogy In Elbaf

During the joint counter-attack by the New Giant Warrior Pirates and the Straw Hat Pirates against Imu’s forces, Zoro requested and received permission to fight the Giants. He swiftly began defeating them with his incredible swordsmanship. However, when Dorry and Brogy intervened and attacked him as a team, Zoro was taken aback by their power and quickly retreated to avoid a direct confrontation.

The Japanese version of this scene makes it clear that Zoro admits he’s unable to defeat his opponents. However, the English translation makes it seem like he just wanted to avoid a fight. This change in wording is significant because the original dialogue directly stated Zoro wasn’t strong enough to win, which is why he moved away. This also subtly suggests that Dorry is currently the stronger swordsman. While Zoro can use Conqueror’s Haki with his sword, Enma, he hasn’t fully mastered its power yet.

I won’t be defeated, even if others fall. I have to become stronger than anyone who challenges me. — Roronoa Zoro

  • As a huge Zoro fan, I really believe he has so much more potential, but he needs a serious challenge to unlock it. And right now, Dory is that challenge! With a bounty of 1.8 billion, he was already incredibly strong, but Imu’s power-up took him to another level entirely – immortality, regeneration, and a massive strength increase! Honestly, Dory’s current power is way beyond even a 2 billion berry bounty fighter, and Zoro just isn’t quite there yet. It’s tough to admit, but a hard-fought victory against Dory is exactly what Zoro needs to grow even stronger.

Currently, Dorry is a more skilled swordsman than Zoro, and he’s likely to be Zoro’s primary opponent in the Elbaf Arc. Zoro consistently faces and defeats stronger opponents, and this could be a great opportunity for him to grow during the Elbaf arc, bringing him closer to his dream of surpassing Dracule Mihawk and becoming the world’s best swordsman.
