Resident Evil Village – All Points of No Return

Resident Evil Village has five key moments where you can accidentally block yourself from optional content and fun discoveries. The game is full of surprises, but pushing too far in the story can lock you out of certain areas and prevent you from fully exploring everything it has to offer.

Here’s a breakdown of key moments in each chapter where you should pause to explore, gather items, and prepare for upcoming battles. These points are especially important for players who like to collect everything, so be sure to take note!

Castle Dimitrescu

If you take the Dagger of Death’s Flowers from the coffin after solving the Hall of the Four puzzle, you’ll permanently lose access to Castle Dimitrescu. Although you should explore the castle and find the four Angel Masks, grabbing the dagger will start a boss battle and prevent you from ever returning.

Castle Dimitrescu is a fantastic place to search for valuable items. Be sure to grab the masks and solve the puzzle, but hold off on taking the Dagger of Death’s Flowers until you’re prepared. Also, opening the coffin will cause Lady Dimitrescu to disappear, making exploration easier, so remember that trick for your game.

House Beneviento

Once you’ve escaped the scary giant baby in the Doll Workshop, you’ll have to play a dangerous game of hide-and-seek with Angie. After defeating her and taking the flask, the exit door will unlock. But be warned: leaving the Beneviento house means you can’t return.

Moreau’s Reservoir

Moreau’s Reservoir is different from other areas in the game because some items can only be collected within a limited timeframe. This is due to a giant monster chasing you, which quickly cuts off access to certain parts of the area.

Once you solve the puzzle at the Sluice Gate in Moreau’s Reservoir, the water drains, opening up new parts of the area. Be careful not to rush through, though! There’s a hidden Goat of Warding and a File you can miss, and if you take the elevator back up before collecting them, you might not be able to return.

The Village

Once you finish the Stronghold area, make sure to fully explore the Village. This is your last chance to collect anything you’ve missed there, so search thoroughly now, or you’ll have to start a new game or load an earlier save to get it all.

The Village offers plenty to explore and complete, including gathering meat, shooting protective goats, finding treasure, and reading important files. However, it’s crucial to finish everything in the Village before or after visiting the Stronghold. Once you head to Heisenberg’s Factory, you won’t be able to return to the Village.

Heisenberg’s Factory

Heisenberg’s Factory is a large, complex area with lots of valuable items to discover. But once you move on to the Control Room after beating Sturm on level B1, you won’t be able to return. So, don’t go to level B1 with the Heisenberg Key – use it on the lower levels to find the best loot instead.

Use the Heisenberg Key in B1 and defeat Sturm only when you’re completely ready to finish the game and won’t need to revisit Heisenberg’s Factory. This is the last chance to complete any remaining tasks, as there’s no going back after this point.
