Venom 3 Early Reaction Suggests It's Worse Than First Two Movies

As a long-time fan of Venom and Tom Hardy’s portrayal of this iconic character, I must confess my excitement for Venom 3: The Last Dance was initially palpable. However, recent whispers from the grapevine have left me feeling somewhat uneasy. Early reactions suggest that this final chapter might not live up to its predecessors, which is a bittersweet pill to swallow.

Before the official reviews for Venom 3 come out, there have been a couple of unconfirmed responses that don’t seem to be good tidings for enthusiasts of Tom Hardy’s earlier installments within Sony’s Spider-Man Universe.

“Venom: The Last Dance” marks the final installment in the trilogy that began with the initial film, followed by “Let There Be Carnage.” Despite mixed reviews from critics for the first two Venom films, which were box office successes, audiences seemed to enjoy them more. For instance, the first Venom movie garnered an 80% audience score against a 30% critic score, while Let There Be Carnage’s audience score stands at 84%, contrasting with a critic score of 57%. However, there are rumors that Venom 3 might not strike the same chord with viewers as its predecessors.

Daniel Richtman, known as Scooper, alleges that he conversed with individuals who expressed displeasure towards Venom 3, even though they appreciated the initial film and Carnage. However, Richtman failed to disclose the identities or exact number of people he interacted with, nor did he reveal where these conversations took place. He appeared to accept that these opinions may not reflect the general sentiment about Venom 3, stating, “Interpret this as you see fit.

Jack McBryan, a co-founder of The Direct, made a playful jab at fans who appreciated the first two Venom films in response to Richtman’s post and expressed enthusiasm for The Last Dance. In his message, he suggested that those with questionable taste might not appreciate Venom 3, but regardless of whether it turns out to be great or terrible, it has him more excited. Other fans chimed in on Ritchman’s post, criticizing Venom: Let There Be Carnage. @NevinMcScott commented, “Anyone who said they enjoyed the second one is lying,” and @charIiestfu wrote, “I think anyone who liked the second one cannot be trusted.

In the near future, fans will discover what critics have said about “Venom 3”. If the overall feedback is unfavorable, this could extend a concerning pattern for Sony’s Spider-Man Universe and comic book films. Besides Venom, Sony’s Spider-Man Universe has only included Madame Web and Jared Leto’s Morbius thus far, both of which have been panned by critics and failed at the box office. Many anticipate that Kraven the Hunter, set to be released on December 13, will uphold Sony’s streak of underperforming films.

The success of the first two Venom movies doesn’t automatically mean that Venom 3 will be successful. Lately, many comic book movie sequels have struggled to match the financial success of their original counterparts. For instance, Aquaman 2 and Shazam 2 didn’t perform as well as the initial films in their respective franchises, while The Marvels fell short of the record-breaking $1 billion gross of the first Captain Marvel film. Similarly, Joker 2 underperformed at the box office despite being a sequel to a billion-dollar hit and an award season favorite. Whether Venom 3 will face the same fate is yet to be determined.

Venom: The Last Dance will be released in theaters on October 25, 2024.
