Explaining Matchmaking Ratings (MMR)

Similar to many games, Rainbow Six Siege features its unique competitive ranking system, much like how Fortnite previously employed Arena Points. Instead, Rainbow Six Siege uses a Matchmaking Rating (MMR) system to rank players.

In simpler terms, the Matchmaking Rating (MMR) system assigns numerical values starting from zero. Once a player accumulates 5,000 points, they can advance to the Champions rank. Interestingly, these points don’t stop increasing; they continue to grow if a player performs well in competitive matches known as Ranked.

The game has two MMR scores, though. Your MMR is tracked separately in Unranked modes while also tracked in Ranked modes. This system is quite different than a lot of other competitive games, as many only track points in Ranked modes.
