Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta coming next week, new biome revealed

As a seasoned Monster Hunter veteran with countless hours spent slaying beasts across various dimensions and realms, I can confidently say that the latest trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds has sent my heart racing with anticipation. The Oilwell Basin biome, teeming with bubbling oil pits and terrifying new monsters like the Brute Wyvern and Rompopolo, promises a fresh and challenging environment to conquer.

Capcom has unveiled a fresh trailer for their upcoming adventure, “Monster Hunter Rampage”, showcasing a completely new habitat along with a thrilling sneak peek at some novel creatures. This trailer was disclosed during the Monster Hunter Rampage Showcase, where producer Ryozo Tsujimoto shared information about the Oilwell Basin biome, a habitation of the enigmatic “Black Flame”, a formidable new monster. To add to the excitement, he also declared an Open Beta for Monster Hunter Rampage that will be accessible on PC, Xbox and PS5 in a week.

In the video you see here, we get a peek at the Oilwell Basin, a treacherous new environment teeming with boiling oil pits. This volatile region is plagued by extreme weather events called Firesprings, but it’s not all danger – it’s also home to a variety of new monsters like the Brute Wyvern, Rompopolo, and the Fanged Wyvern, Ajarakan. However, there’s a peaceful haven within the chaos: the craftsman village of Azuz.

Following tradition from past releases, Capcom plans to give fans an opportunity to explore Wilds, providing three distinct experiences. You’ll have access to a comprehensive character creator, and your character can even be carried over to the final version of the game. Additionally, there will be a Story Challenge and a free-roam hunt for the Doshaguma. The Story Challenge lets you view the opening cinematic before embarking on a quest to find the Chaatacabra. On the other hand, the Doshaguma hunt involves tracking the Alpha monster of a Doshaguma pack. Both experiences can be completed solo or with friends by activating the SOS flare.

The open beta for Monster Hunter Wilds starts on November 1st, 3am GMT, available on PS5, Xbox Series S and X, and PC through Steam. However, PlayStation Plus subscribers can gain early access starting from October 29th, also at 3am GMT.

Take a look at the Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase located down below, and delve into our firsthand experience review where we expressed:

All experiences within this game surpassed my highest expectations, offering an immersive experience that’s truly astounding. The battles are intense but also thoughtfully complex. The visuals and auditory aspects of the Forbidden Lands are incredibly awe-inspiring.

Indeed, Monster Hunter Wilds delivers on the buzz and anticipation thus far. Regrettably, February 28th, 2025 seems too distant. Prepare yourself, it’s bound to consume your life once more, and trust me, you’ll likely find this game hard to resist.

Monster Hunter Wilds is set to arrive on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox consoles on February 28, 2025. You can now pre-order the game across all platforms, including a Deluxe Edition that offers a variety of cosmetic downloadable content as well as coupons for Cosmetic DLC Packs 1 and 2, expected in Summer 2025.
