Every Super Mario Party Jamboree Game Board, Ranked

Every Super Mario Party Jamboree Game Board, Ranked

As someone who’s spent countless hours navigating the colorful world of Super Mario Party, I can confidently say that these boards are more than just a simple game of chance. They embody a perfect blend of strategy and fun, each with its unique charm and challenges.

It’s time to celebrate, but which game board should we choose? There are seven unique boards available for the traditional Mario Party gameplay.

Regardless of whether you’re racing around Roll ’em Raceway or navigating traps in King Bowser’s Keep, the distinct gameplay mechanics and items found on each Mario Party board make every experience unique. Yet, it’s worth noting that not every board offers the same level of challenge!

Want to keep your party going until dawn? Let’s see which boards are best.

7 Mario’s Rainbow Castle

Overcommits To A Single Gimmick

Unique ItemDescription
Tower TurnerHas about a 50% chance of turning the central tower, swapping Toad with Bowser.

In contrast to how rainbows are often associated with challenging and thrilling stages in a Mario game, such as Rainbow Road in Mario Kart, that’s not the case with Jamboree. Instead, Mario’s Rainbow Castle is relatively straightforward. Climb your way to the top to purchase a Star from Toad, then drift back down as the castle rotates and replaces Toad with Bowser.

In this game, there’s only one board that feels rather average or unimpressive to me. It does have a certain level of strategy where you need to coordinate movement and utilize items effectively, making it compulsory for other players to purchase Bowser’s Ztar.

Nonetheless, taking the straightforward path leaves me somewhat perplexed as to why this particular board was selected for the remake of Jamboree (when considering other boards used in previous remakes).

6 Rainbow Galleria

Items, Items Galore!

Unique ItemDescription
Markup StickerDoubles the price of items and Stars for the targeted opponent during their next turn.

It’s no secret that the indoor shopping mall, such as Rainbow Galleria, is primarily focused on merchandise. What makes it stand out are its numerous merchandise stores, along with a Flash Sale every five turns, which reduces prices by half, encouraging frequent shopping.

Navigating this board is an exciting experience due to its escalators and elevator, as you dash between three levels while purchasing Stars. However, it lacks features that allow for customization of routes or activation of engaging events.

Rainbow Galleria is a fun board! It just lacks the interactive elements that create Mario Party’s magic.

5 Goomba Lagoon

I Swear, If You Trap Me One More Time…

Unique ItemDescription
Tide BellChanges the lagoon’s tide from low to high, or high to low.

Goomba Lagoon is known for being the board game most likely to trigger frustration due to its tidal mechanics. Every two turns, or whenever one of your opponents rings a Tide Bell, the water level changes – either rising or falling. During high tide, paths between the islands become inaccessible.

If by chance you find yourself stranded on an island at high tide and another player manages to lower the tide level right before it naturally shifts, they would be able to traverse over, leaving you trapped again. But, if you happen to land on the area designated for a zipline’s event, you can glide away from there.

Friends who play tricks sometimes make the game more enjoyable too. The course around the islands is always switching up. Throw in an active volcano teeming with Golden Goombas and Lava Bubbles, and you’ve got a truly captivating gameplay experience.

4 Mega Wiggler’s Tree Party

Fantastic Intro Board For Newbies

Unique ItemDescription
Wiggler BellWakes Mega Wiggler, causing him to move to the other side. Has a small chance to anger him, too.

In contrast to Mario’s Rainbow Castle, Mega Wiggler’s Tree Party has a delightful balance between user engagement and ease of play, each rated with a 1-Star difficulty.

Just as the Tide Bell alters its course on the game board, so too does the Wiggler Bell. Although no one gets trapped, making a strategic move with the Wiggler at the right moment could block another player’s path to collecting a Star.

As a gamer, I find that Jamboree’s initial game board is perfectly tailored for newcomers, as it effectively conveys the fundamental concept of the game while still being beginner-friendly. Personally, I’ve had a blast playing on this map when using the Pro Rules, as the early Koopa Shop offers strategic depth. This is because all shops in the Pro Rules have limited inventory, forcing players to make thoughtful decisions from the get-go.

3 Roll ’em Raceway

Get Paid For Lapping The Competition

Unique ItemDescription
Turbo DiceRoll four dice and add them together. However, you can’t stop along the way—not even for Stars.

Regardless of its seemingly straightforward layout, Roll ’em Raceway truly outshines due to its skillful application of the racing theme. It showcases the truth that a well-designed board doesn’t necessarily have to be intricate.

The Star moves back and forth between two designated areas, one along each path leading north on the game board. If the players are close together, deciding on a route or employing a Chomp Call could help you capture the Star. In any other situation, you’ll need to make another round.

The racing motif is reinforced with additions like Turbo Dice and a “Dice Stop,” where you can stock up your inventory for merely 10 Coins.

For every lap you finish, you earn 10 Coins. Interestingly, the game board at Roll ’em Raceway offers an entertaining and tantalizing platform for some unexpected strategic planning.

2 King Bowser’s Keep

Maximum Danger, Maximum Complexity

Unique ItemDescription
Bowser Byway LeverSwitches the direction of the central square Bowser Byway.

Once you finish the Kamek’s Party-Planner Trek, you will have the chance to navigate through a maze filled with traps. The central road known as Bowser Byway alters its direction whenever an Event Space is triggered or when a player uses a Bowser Byway Lever, making for a route that frequently changes.

In a more troublesome twist, during your game at King Bowser’s Keep, it’s actually Imposter Bowser who rotates in! Every third turn, he even adds an extra pair of Bowser Spaces onto the central square.

This board definitely earns its 5-Star difficulty rating. Yet it’s also a lot of fun, since the constant changes and dangers encourage looking ahead to determine the best route. King Bowser’s Keep is definitely a board which doesn’t get boring.

1 Western Land

Time for a Hootenanny!

Unique ItemDescription
Steamer TicketCall Steamer to the train station at which the ticket is used.

The classic Wild West-themed board in Super Mario Party Jamboree stands out due to its engaging paths and vibrant interactive features, making it the most enjoyable one.

The train, or steamer, is notably captivating as it not only ensures swift travel but also provides an opportunity to hinder your adversaries. Should you be on the tracks, a collision with the train sends you back to the game’s initial position.

Additionally, visiting Wiggler’s Milk Stand situated at the rear end of the board provides an opportunity to summon other players for a lively gathering, offering yet another means of disrupting movement across the board and amplifying the confusion.

Skeleton Keys offer quick paths and circular routes for maneuvering the game board. A secure zone situated centrally on the board acts as a check against the train’s recoil, ensuring that it seldom becomes repetitive.

In summary, Western Land stands out as an exceptional game board. Despite being a reboot, its unique mix of player interaction and endearing qualities demonstrates that this timeless game continues to shine brightly in today’s gaming world, earning the title of a modern masterpiece.
