Blood Resonance is an important part of your journey when exploring the city. It feeds (pun intended) into how you tailor Phyre’s abilities to match your vampiric playstyle and fantasy.
As you traverse the streets of Seattle, you may encounter pedestrians exhibiting one of three distinct emotional states: melancholic (displaying signs of anxiety or fear), sanguine (showing signs of arousal or sexual attraction), and choleric (manifesting anger or irritation). Given that this information is exclusive to vampires, you must rely on your heightened senses to discern these individuals. Once identified, the objective is to “convert” these pedestrians completely by resonating with them through dialogues. This process involves influencing their emotions as necessary.
As a gamer, I’m thrilled about this new feature because it makes my choices matter! The way I navigate through the game significantly influences the dialogue options that pop up. It’s all about the decisions I make and the path I choose. Additionally, the way I dress, or my character’s appearance, plays a crucial role in these conversations too. So, I better pick my outfits carefully!
According to Lead Game Designer Gavin Hood, if you can “convert” pedestrians, they will become completely affected and respond accordingly. This could result in them attacking you, fleeing from you in fear, or even finding you incredibly appealing, all of which will increase the resonant blood of that type you obtain by feeding on them.
Building upon our earlier discussion about Phyre’s heightened senses, let’s delve into the subsequent phase. This stage was focused on finding a way to distinguish the type of prey for the player’s convenience.
