The details for the next-generation Nintendo Switch, including all its features, have been unveiled, and what caught my attention was the longevity of its battery.
Based on information found on Nintendo’s official site, it appears that the upcoming Switch 2 model will boast a stronger battery compared to the original Switch. This latest version sports a 5220mAh Lithium-ion battery, which is greater than the 4310mAh battery of the initial Switch and the 3570mAh battery of the Switch Lite.
According to Nintendo, the estimated battery life for the Switch 2 ranges between 2 to approximately 6.5 hours. However, they note that these figures are merely approximations, as the actual battery life can vary based on the specific games being played.
If you ever find yourself needing to recharge your system, it’ll approximately take about three hours for a full charge when the console is in sleep mode. However, if you’re currently using it in TV mode (for active play), the charging time will be longer.
The upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 sports a spacious 7.9-inch 1080p LCD screen, maintaining the original Switch’s compact dimensions. This enhanced display is capable of High Dynamic Range (HDR) and boasts up to 120 frames per second (FPS). Other highlights of this updated system include a generous 256GB internal storage, 4K gaming at 60 FPS when docked, an integrated microphone, two USB-C ports, and additional features. Notably, the Nintendo Switch 2 will accept MicroSD Express memory cards, meaning that existing MicroSD cards may no longer be compatible.
