As a seasoned Guardian of the last city, I must say that the announcement for Festival of the Lost 2024 in Destiny 2 has filled me with both excitement and relief! The addition of new weapons and exotic class items, available to all players without the need to complete Dual Destiny, is a welcome change. It’s about time we put aside our differences and unite against the Darkness!

Bungie reveals all the details for Festival of the Lost 2024, adding new weapons and armor as well as the first chance for all Destiny 2 players to purchase exotic class items, regardless if they’ve beaten Dual Destiny or not. The level of controversy that erupted alongside the Dual Destiny mission and these exotic class items certainly reached a fever pitch, but with Festival of the Lost now opening them up to everyone during the event, all Destiny 2 fans should now be pleased.

Within the scope of The Final Shape expansion for Destiny 2, the game introduced its first exotic class items. As the expansion was about to launch, there was significant excitement because these items came equipped with two perks, some even borrowed from other exotics, belonging to different classes. However, a debate ensued when these items were incorporated into a two-player mission called Dual Destiny, which required players to collaborate on a non-matchmaking activity together. This caused a rift within the community as many felt compelled to complete this mission with another player.

Bungie has taken on board player suggestions regarding exotic class items, and introduced new methods to acquire these items, but players must complete Dual Destiny at least once as a prerequisite. With the arrival of Destiny 2‘s annual Halloween event, Festival of the Lost, on October 29, Bungie is making an exception and has announced that for the first time, exotic class items can be bought from Eva using one Eerie Engram and 2500 Candy. Players can purchase as many as they desire, and once bought, these items will become available for purchase from Xur and in Overthrow chests from The Pale Heart, with only The Final Shape expansion being necessary to fulfill the requirement.

Destiny 2 Reveals Festival of the Lost 2024

This year’s Festival of the Lost continues to blend novel features with traditional elements, such as the return of Haunted Sectors, spooky Engrams, and reviving the Book of the Forgotten. A fresh addition for the event is a Heavy Burst arc shotgun named Arcane Embrace, which fires in two-round bursts and packs quite a punch, particularly against Barrier Champions. Weapons from past Destiny 2 Festivals like Jurassic Green, Braytech Werewolf, Acosmic, and Mechabre have been updated with revamped perk selections too.

Apart from everything else, the well-liked Superblack shader from the update “Into the Light” of Destiny 2 comes back as a reward for players who complete all 15 challenges. Additionally, the Lost Memento is obtained as a random drop upon finishing the Twilight Triumph. This year introduces armor sets styled after Wizards, with malevolent alternatives for Hunters and Warlocks; Titans opted for the virtuous variant instead.
