Surgent Studios Unveils Tales of Kenzera: Project Uso

As a seasoned gamer and avid fan of Surgent Studios, I can’t help but feel a pang of both excitement and concern as Project Uso is unveiled. Abubakar Salim’s creative mind has always managed to weave intricate narratives that resonate deeply with players, especially those who have experienced loss or are grappling with the fear of mortality.

Surgent Studios, responsible for the hit game Tales of Kenzera: ZAU, has revealed their upcoming project, titled Project Uso. This new game is part of the expansive multiverse originally conceived by Abubakar Salim’s creative imagination. According to a statement released today by Surgent, Project Uso will be significantly darker and more intense than their initial release.

The upcoming project, Project Uso, takes us back to the world of Kenzera, but with a strikingly different visual style. This time around, we’ll encounter a ‘vampiric android’ protagonist, whose purpose is to serve as a vessel for the spirits of the departed. The unique blend of this narrative-driven RPG and pulse-pounding beat-em-up gameplay promises an exhilarating experience.

The Next Chapter

Lately, there’s been talk about Surgent Studios due to the announcement that their game development division could be facing layoffs. This information surfaced during a period of financial difficulties and insufficient funds for upcoming ventures such as Project Uso.

In simpler terms, the news bulletin issued by Surgent Studios, titled “Project Uso Announcement,” carried this key information.

Surgent Studios has built a working model of the USO project and is currently searching for a collaborator to make it a reality.

In a statement attached to the press release, Surgent’s founder, Abubakar Salim, said:

The upcoming Project Uso promises a grittier and intensely emotional experience compared to our initial game. Unlike ZAU, which focuses on coping with death in a positive manner, USO explores the all-encompassing terror of mortality. This concept emerged after the birth of my daughter, as I faced an existential crisis while assuming the role of a parent for the first time.

In a similar vein, the idea for Tales of Kenzera: ZAU emerged as Salim grappled with the sudden demise of his father and sought ways to navigate the overwhelming emotions stemming from this loss.

In Uso, players take charge of a distinct role-playing game designed by Surgent. With the spirit of Eshu, the god of chaos within them, they’ll wield powers akin to both an android and a deity.

Initially, Project Uso appears to offer a more complex gameplay experience compared to ZAU, with its decision-making elements potentially introducing more diversity and replay value. Unlike ZAU, which was quite linear and single-minded in its progression, Project Uso seems to offer multiple paths due to its choice-based features. Additionally, Project Uso is set several decades after ZAU, so the world portrayed will likely be far more technologically advanced.

Here’s hoping Surgent manages to find a partner to help produce Project Uso.
