New Steam Game That’s Like Zelda Meets Bloodborne With a Dash of Red Dead Redemption Locks Down Release Date

Tombwater, an upcoming PC game on Steam, blends the gameplay of Zelda, Bloodborne, and Red Dead Redemption. This action-adventure game, described as a ‘Soulslike western,’ has already generated excitement with its demos. An updated demo is now available, offering players a more complete preview of the game ahead of its March 31st release this spring.

Moth Atlas developed and Midwest Games published Tombwater, a game clearly influenced by Bloodborne and classic The Legend of Zelda titles. Gameplay previews show a lone gunslinger exploring a pixelated, isometric Wild West, dodging enemies and fighting both bandits and monstrous creatures. The hero is on a quest to find a missing friend and reveal the hidden, unsettling truths of a nearly deserted town.

Tombwater Locks Down March 31 Release Date on Steam

The developers of Tombwater have announced the game will officially launch on March 31st. While the gameplay is clearly inspired by other titles, Tombwater also evokes the atmosphere of Red Dead Redemption thanks to its old-west setting. However, it adds a unique, darker twist with unsettling imagery of tendrils emerging from the silver mines beneath the town, spreading across the game’s large map.

I’m so hyped for this game! It sounds like you can really play it your way, choosing from seven different classes, each with its own style. Plus, there’s a ton of gear – over 50 guns and melee weapons, and more than 20 spells! Figuring out the best loadout is going to be crucial. But it’s not just about fighting monsters; the game messes with your character’s mind too, with creepy stuff coming from the abandoned mines. It’s going to be a real challenge to stay sane while battling all these Eldritch bosses, and I can’t wait!

The first demo of Tombwater came out in April 2025, offering players a preview of its challenging combat, western setting, and terrifying creatures. Now, with the full game launching just over a month away, an updated demo is available with improvements to both gameplay and accessibility. This new demo introduces a stagger mechanic to combat, changing up how battles play out, and a camera option that lets players scout ahead for danger. Players can also choose a more straightforward experience thanks to new difficulty settings that aim to make the game less frustrating and repetitive.

A new demo for Tombwater is available now as part of Steam Next Fest, a special event running from February 23rd to March 2nd. Steam Next Fest happens three times a year and lets game developers showcase upcoming titles with playable demos, allowing them to get valuable feedback from players. With so many demos available this week, Tombwater is competing for players’ time, but the developers believe the full game’s 20 hours of gameplay will encourage people to try it out during the festival.
