A new mod is in development that will add multiplayer to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. While still early in progress, the initial footage is impressive and suggests it has the potential to become something truly remarkable.
Released just over a year ago, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 quickly earned praise from critics and immersed players in a realistic medieval Bohemia. Many consider it one of the best role-playing games in recent years, and it was a contender for Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2025. What sets it apart from other medieval RPGs is its commitment to historical accuracy, avoiding fantasy elements and faithfully recreating Bohemia as it was in 1403. It’s a significant improvement over the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance, which came out in 2018. The game is designed as a single-player experience, but fans are already working on modifications to add multiplayer options.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Multiplayer Mod is Making Big Progress
A Reddit user named ddesoo recently shared a video of a new mod for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 that adds multiplayer to the game. The footage shows one player pursuing another, both controlling the character Henry—though Henry’s textures aren’t fully loaded yet. There’s a little lag, which is understandable for a mod of this complexity at this stage of development. While the mod is clearly still very early in progress, it has the potential to be remarkable. Importantly, this isn’t the work of just one person. The modder has made the code available on GitHub, allowing others to contribute and significantly accelerate the project’s development.
Most feedback on the possibility of multiplayer in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 was very enthusiastic. Some players also asked about how it would work technically. One user, for example, wondered what would happen if players moved away from each other, and if their actions would still affect the shared world. The developer responded that players might temporarily become out of sync, but the goal is to have a system where the game resets and streams data from one player’s world to ensure everything stays synchronized and feels truly open-ended.
Adding multiplayer to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a big undertaking because the game wasn’t originally built for it. While other single-player RPGs like Skyrim (with its ‘Skyrim Together’ mod) have received multiplayer mods, even the most successful ones took years of development to become fun and stable. Therefore, a fully functional multiplayer mod for KCD2 isn’t likely to be available quickly, but it’s still a project worth watching.
Warhorse Studios showed its support for player creativity last year by releasing modding tools for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Now, just over a year later, the game has more mods available on Nexus Mods than the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance did. The modding community is thriving, and it’s likely we’ve only scratched the surface of what’s possible. It’s fantastic that Warhorse Studios understands how a strong modding community can keep a game alive and well for years to come.
