Bolt Action: “No plan survives first contact with the enemy.”

Slitherine and Frag Games are releasing their second development update for the Bolt Action video game today. Because many of you have shown interest, we wanted to share the latest news right away!

Slitherine let me know the next developer diary will focus on the Order System. This system is how players will give instructions and direct their units, with each unit having six basic command options.

  • Fire;
  • Advance;
  • Run;
  • Ambush;
  • Rally;
  • Down;

These instructions are taken straight from the Bolt Action tabletop game rules and provide the foundation for players to strategize, act, and respond to changing conditions on the battlefield.

Digital Adaptation Done Right

Long-time fans will be happy to know that these new features are based directly on the original tabletop game rules. The developers have emphasized that every key system in the PC version has a counterpart in the tabletop game, staying true to its roots.

A recent visit from Alessio Cavatore, Lead Designer for the Bolt Action tabletop game, was a real treat for the Milan office. He spent the day playing the game with the development team and explained the reasoning behind the game’s rules.

We’ll be sharing a new developer diary about Bolt Action on February 25th at 4:00 PM Central European Time. Keep an eye out for more details!
