As a die-hard fan of survival horror games, I can’t contain my excitement for Nightdive Studios’ upcoming masterpiece, The Thing: Remastered! Having grown up playing the 2002 version and being utterly terrified by its bone-chilling atmosphere, I am thrilled to see this classic getting a modern makeover.
Nightdive Studios recently shared a fresh gameplay video for their upcoming game in 2024 titled “The Thing: Remastered,” offering players a clearer glimpse into its graphics and gameplay features.
This new game is a “trustworthy remake” of the third-person survival horror title from 2002, which undeniably took its inspiration from the 1982 movie “The Thing.

Nightdive Studios has given this terrifying old game a fresh update to suit today’s technology using their KEX Engine, allowing it to be played on contemporary gaming devices with resolutions up to 4K and frame rates of 120FPS. The studio has personally crafted enhancements to the characters, textures, and animations, incorporating advanced 3D rendering for improved lighting and atmospheric effects. This results in a remaster that is both suspenseful and exquisitely detailed, breathing new life into the game for modern players.
In the icy expanses of the arctic tundra, an enigmatic shape-shifting extraterrestrial has annihilated the team at U.S. Outpost #31, a research facility. In The Thing: Remastered, players take on the role of Captain J.F. Blake, head of a U.S. Army Special Forces team dispatched to probe the chilling occurrences depicted in the original The Thing movie. Faced with adversities from both nature and an appalling creature, Blake must maintain unity within his squad by fostering trust among them and preventing their fear and suspicion from overpowering them – or him.

The Thing: Remastered is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X later this year.
