As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt and countless hours spent in various battlefields, I can confidently say that the Packet Burst issue in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is as relentless as a Predator on the hunt. It’s a frustration shared by many, regardless of which developer is helming the latest COD project.
Once again, the infamous Packet Burst error has resurfaced in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Regardless of which developer takes charge of the latest COD game, it’s a safe bet that packet loss incidents will occur. However, with the application of some effective tips we’ve provided, you might just manage to avoid those mishaps.
Despite having a strong internet connection, you might still encounter the frustrating issue of Packet Burst, which essentially means that there can be instability in your server connection. This instability may cause delays or lags between actions on your screen and what’s actually happening in real time, resulting in inconsistencies during gameplay.
Players of Black Ops 6 have been experiencing packet loss during matches, leading me to compile this helpful list of potential solutions aimed at resolving the problem.
How to fix Packet Loss in Black Ops 6
To ensure a smooth gaming experience with Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, it would be beneficial to first investigate your internet connection thoroughly. Explore all potential issues that could affect the communication between your internet and the game servers. While some solutions may seem obvious, giving each one a try might lead you to the solution you need for an optimal experience.
Do a routine investigation of your connection
Let’s begin: Go ahead and verify your router. Take a thorough look to see if its power indicator is lit up, ensure the light signifies it’s connected to the internet, and let’s eliminate the possibility that the router itself might be causing packet loss.
Restart your router
Based on my previous advice, I suggest you might want to try rebooting your router. Even if you don’t suspect the issue lies there, it doesn’t cause any harm, and it’s not a complex task. Who knows? It just might solve your problem! Remarkable things do happen sometimes!
Reboot Black Ops 6
Instead of developing a game like Black Ops 6, I’m suggesting that you shut down Black Oops 6, go back to your home screen, and then restart the FPS game again. Since we’re dealing with technology, which can sometimes be unpredictable and frustrating, let’s try a reset on Black Ops 6. Then, jump into matchmaking and see if that resolves the issue. If not, we’ll explore more technical solutions.
Check the Black Ops 6 servers
Activision doesn’t maintain an official page for server status like many other companies do, but I trust Down Detector to provide reliable information about this matter. This free-to-use website has a dedicated domain for Call of Duty (although it covers the franchise as a whole rather than solely focusing on Black Ops 6). The site is regularly updated and can give you an idea of any service interruptions that may occur.
Furthermore, monitor the official Call of Duty X website for any significant updates about stability issues, and also pay attention to social media platforms in general for any related discussions or announcements.
On-Demand Texture Streaming
In Black Ops 6, you can customize a variety of visual aspects under its graphics settings: High Dynamic Range (HDR), Motion Blur, Field of View (FOV), and On-Demand Texture Streaming. This article particularly discusses the last one, On-Demand Texture Streaming, which enhances the quality of Black Ops 6 by automatically downloading extra textures over an internet connection to boost the game’s visual fidelity.
Maintaining crisp textures in games can use up more of your internet, potentially affecting the smoothness of your gameplay. To prevent excessive data usage and ensure stable gaming, it’s recommended to set On-Demand Texture Streaming to “Minimal”.
Restart Shaders on PC
For PC gamers, a frequently overlooked aspect is pre-loading shaders. This action can fill up your system’s cache and eventually your VRAM. Similar to On-Demand Texture Streaming, find the graphics settings sub-menu, then select “Display” and choose “Restart Shader Pre-Loading” to clear some space.
Use an Ethernet Connection
Based on the device you prefer, if it’s positioned appropriately relative to the router, I strongly recommend connecting your gaming system directly to the router using an Ethernet cable for a more stable Ethernet Connection. This is what I do with my PS5 and our fiber optic internet, and I hardly encounter any problems with online multiplayer games.
Turn crossplay off
Crossplay is amazing for so many reasons: It speeds up matchmaking, it can improve the quality of matchmaking, and it allows you to play with friends across different platforms. But if you’re looking for a final quick fix to quell the wrath of Packet Loss, you can try disabling crossplay in an attempt to keep the internet connection restricted to the same consoles/computers.
