Black Ops 6: Research Augments, Explained

As a seasoned Zombies enthusiast with countless hours spent in the undead apocalypse, I’ve grown to appreciate the intricacies of the game more than most people might. The latest addition to the franchise, Black Ops 6, has introduced a new layer of strategy and customization through Augments, which I find both exhilarating and slightly confusing.

In the latest version of Call of Duty Zombies, known as Black Ops 6, a fresh approach to triumph and advancement has been introduced via Augments. Augments in Black Ops 6 are unique to the Zombies mode, serving as a means for players to permanently boost their Perks, Ammo Mods, and Field Upgrades by utilizing Major and Minor Augments.

In Black Ops 6, it’s not entirely clear how players acquire Augments or the specifics of researching them. To build the best possible gameplay setup, understanding the fundamentals of Augments is crucial. Here’s a breakdown of how to research Augments in Black Ops 6:

Stepping into Zombies mode of Black Ops 6, I navigate to the Weapons section where I choose my Augments. In the Augments page, I’m able to both equip those I’ve already unlocked and start researching new ones, which will eventually grant me access to even more powerful augmentations for gameplay!

In the game, players are allowed to focus on researching just one item from the group consisting of Perk-a-Colas, Ammo Mods, and Field Upgrades at a time. Each of these potent enhancements has six Augments to study, with three Minor and three Major ones. Players can unlock new items for research after finishing a certain number of research tasks, but how do you complete a research task for Augments?

To successfully accomplish a research assignment in this game, it’s essential for players to choose an Active Research task based on their desired Minor and Major Augments. Now, the primary objective for all players is to engage in a Zombies match.

As a player engrossed in the Zombies game, I’ve noticed there’s no real-time in-game mechanism to track Research Augment progress. However, for those of us playing alone, we have the option to save and exit a match, which allows us to check our Augment progress. Intriguingly, we can also switch to a different Active Research before diving back into the game.
