As a seasoned gamer with decades of Pokemon adventures under my belt, I can’t help but feel like a kid in a candy store as I delve into these latest leaks about Pokemon X and Y. The sheer amount of information that’s surfaced is mind-boggling!
The ongoing data leak of Pokemon provides an endless stream of information regarding the franchise. Almost every game generation within the Pokemon series has been flipped upside down, and there are countless discoveries to be made about the X and Y versions.
The primary source for significant Pokemon leaks remains Centro Leaks on X (previously Twitter), the account that serves as the hub for these leaks known as Teraleak. Nevertheless, a large portion of these leaks’ conservation is primarily handled by The Cutting Room Floor wiki, an online platform dedicated to archiving discarded content from various games, and they have demonstrated remarkable diligence in organizing this data.
What The October Teraleak Has Revealed About Pokemon X and Y
January 2013 Town Map, 2012 South Kalos
A pre-release version of the Town Map for Pokemon X and Y, dating back to January 2013, emerged alongside leaks. This map, showcasing the northern half of the Kalos region, is almost indistinguishable from the one included in the final game. The most striking difference can be seen in the early design of Lumiose City’s Poke Ball, which appears in a condensed and rough form. Upon closer examination, this earlier map fails to include several locations such as Sea Spirit’s Den, Kalos Power Plant, Lost Hotel, Terminus Cave, Chamber of Emptiness, Kiloude City, Connecting Cave, and Reflection Cave that were present in the final game.
It’s not too surprising to learn that more information about the Kalos region has surfaced, as leakers found an old map from 2012 that verifies the existence of its southern part in both X and Y games. The southern area is depicted in this map by a mouse pointing to a location labeled ‘town’ in Japanese, which seems to describe a chilly, cozy rural town. This location bears resemblance to Kayserberg-Vignoble, a real French town that aligns with the France-inspired Kalos region. Some believe this southern region was intended for post-game content due to certain fan concerns about X and Y’s postgame, but this is just speculation.
Early Pokemon Builds And Scrapped Mega Jynx
There’s an abundance of intriguing information surfacing in the leaks about the early forms of Pokemon X and Y. For instance, some creatures like Delphox didn’t initially possess their Psychic type, and Honedge and Doublade once had abilities called ‘Stance Change’. Additionally, Spritzee was originally named ‘Toware’, which translates to ‘Toilette’ in Japanese.
One intriguing aspect of these transformations lies in the evolution of Xerneas and Yveltal. Their initial names (Eikusu and Wai) were altered to X and Y respectively. What adds mystery is that it seems these two entities exchanged roles during development. Initially, Xerneas was a Dark type with a ‘Pressure’ ability, but in the final version, it became a Fairy type boasting a ‘Fairy Aura’ power. Similarly, Yveltal was initially a Fairy type, yet in the final game, it took on a different role.
In the latest Pokemon leaks, there’s a new find – an abandoned Mega Evolution called Mega Jynx. Despite not having a 3D model, some concept art, statistics, type (Ice/Psychic), and its unique ability, Magic Guard, have been uncovered by the leak investigators.
Lady Gaga In The Audio Files
The wave of leaks has unearthed some interesting X and Y audio files, including Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.” According to leakers and The Cutting Room Floor, this song was used to test audio streams. Less peculiar but equally intriguing is the use of audio from Pokemon Black and White, with a number of direct rips/remixes of tracks from those games being used as placeholders. The audio leaks also revealed a number of prototype songs and sound effects, including early versions of Kanto’s “Legendary Battle” theme and the “Wild Pokemon Battle” theme. Of particular note is the insight that Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde were once poised to have unique themes, rather than one shared theme.
