Dogecoin (DOGE) Disappoints Bears With 375% Liquidation Imbalance

As a seasoned researcher who has witnessed the rollercoaster ride that is the cryptocurrency market, I must admit, the recent events surrounding Dogecoin have left me intrigued. While the sheer volume of liquidations might suggest a bearish sentiment, the stark imbalance between long and short position liquidations in DOGE is quite unusual.

According to CoinGlass’s data, the value of cryptocurrency positions that were liquidated on the derivatives market in the past day exceeded a staggering $111.44 million.

Nevertheless, while Dogecoin (DOGE) boasts a substantial size, it’s the noticeable disparity in the number of liquidations that stands out as particularly intriguing.

Over the specified timeframe, a total of $5.91 million worth of DOGE was liquidated. Out of that amount, around $1.25 million was from the closing of long positions, which represents approximately 4.66% of the remaining liquidations, where the rest were short position closures.

In other words, the number of bearish bets (those expecting Dogecoin’s price to drop) on liquidation was nearly four times greater than the bullish bets (those expecting Dogecoin’s price to rise).

Dogecoin (DOGE): Price outlook

In the throes of last weekend’s cryptocurrency market downturn, it’s intriguing to note that many investors anticipated a reversal and took up short positions. This collective move, in turn, created an imbalance in the market dynamics.

It transpired that things didn’t go as expected, and Dogecoin, to illustrate, not only bounced back from last Friday’s decline but also surged to even higher prices thanks to a 15.62% rise in value.

Despite the chaos, Friday’s significant decline disrupted the bullish strategy, but by the end of the day, the balance between buyers and sellers seemed to stabilize. This suggests that the cryptocurrency market is currently unpredictable or volatile.

On the contrary, it’s the bulls who are dominating in Dogecoin, as they have successfully taken control of the situation.
