Best Black Ops Games For Zombies

As someone who’s spent countless hours battling the undead in the Call of Duty universe, I must say that my personal favorite is Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. Having grown up with the original Black Ops and experiencing the evolution of Zombies mode, Black Ops 3 stands out as a game that truly encapsulated everything I loved about the series – an engaging storyline, addicting gameplay loops, and stylized maps.

A significant aspect that sets Treyarch’s Call of Duty series apart isn’t only its adrenaline-pumping multiplayer or gripping espionage storylines, but also the legendary Zombies mode, which has been a staple since Call of Duty: World at War. The Zombies mode in Call of Duty is renowned, and each new Treyarch release generates anticipation among players, as they wonder what fresh ideas the team will bring to the table next.

Upon the debut of Black Ops 6, a plethora of Treyarch Zombie game modes has emerged, each boasting distinctive attractions in aspects such as maps, narratives, mechanics, and so forth. Though not every Call of Duty Zombie mode can claim the number one position, there are commendable features in every Black Ops Zombie mode that warrant exploration.

6 Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

More Casual Gameplay With a Lack of Story Focus

As a devoted fan, I must admit that the ending of Black Ops 4 left the Zombies community feeling somewhat let down, but there was a glimmer of hope with the promise of the mode’s revival, which we’ve cherished for over a decade. With the arrival of Black Ops Cold War, the Zombies support system started off by reimagining Nacht der Toten as Die Maschine. The gameplay mechanics were generally alright, but maybe a bit too relaxed and simple for anyone not seeking a casual gaming experience.

In certain aspects, Black Ops Cold War seemed to blend elements of Warzone with zombies, albeit in a more relaxed and less survival-oriented manner. The weaponry was potent, while the undead were feeble, and the overall experience lacked the immersive tension that one would expect. The maps were expansive, but this spaciousness seemed to dilute their unique settings and ambiance. Additionally, Black Ops Cold War did not offer a compelling narrative or dedicated team, which left its maps feeling incomplete. To put it simply, while Black Ops Cold War Zombies isn’t a poor game mode by any means, it falls short of the epic standard one might associate with a “king” of modes.

5 Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

Fun, Challenges, With Plenty of Potential

In the latest version of Black Ops 6, we find the new version of Zombies, debuting with two maps: Terminus and Liberty Falls. Black Ops 6 Zombies offers many appealing aspects, and if future map developments consider fan suggestions, it has a promising future ahead. The gameplay in Black Ops 6 Zombies is both enjoyable and accessible due to its polished mechanics and the ability to flood players with hordes of zombies thanks to advanced hardware, which adds an extra layer of difficulty.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 offers an engaging playstyle with its innovative loadout system, and it keeps players hooked by enabling them to craft new Augments for Perks, Ammo Mods, and Field Upgrades. The main campaign is thrilling, boasting one of the finest boss battles ever encountered. In terms of development, Black Ops 6 Zombies seems promising, with its gameplay reminiscent of a more refined Call of Duty: Cold War. However, its potential for design versatility suggests that it could stand out as one of the best in its lifecycle.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve just dived into the world of Black Ops 6. With each new update and map release, I believe this game could climb up the ranks significantly.

4 Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Disappointing Conclusions With Fun Risks

Following Black Ops 3, there was an impression that nothing could go wrong with Black Ops 4. The developers at Treyarch had masterfully understood what fans appreciated and disliked, creating high anticipation for the Zombies mode in Black Ops 4. Yet, the lingering attachment of fans to the beloved Aether narrative left the new Chaos narrative in a less than favorable position. Despite intriguing map designs and captivating mythologies, these elements were eventually overshadowed by a lackluster resolution to the Aether storyline.

The tale of Black Ops 4 Zombies wasn’t just unsatisfying, but the overall journey of Black Ops 4 itself faced challenges, with many maps ultimately turning out to be expansive yet underwhelming rehashes of past favorites. While Black Ops 4 attempted to distinguish itself by discarding the popular Perk-a-Colas and introducing new ones, the numerous changes combined with insufficient support for its lifespan made Black Ops 4 feel somewhat like Black Ops 3, yet lacking key components that would have made it as iconic.

3 Call of Duty: Black Ops 2

Innovative With Some of the Best Maps in Zombies History

Initially following up on the success of “Black Ops” was never going to be an easy feat, and unfortunately, “Black Ops 2” didn’t quite hit the mark in the beginning. When it came to connecting the narrative of destroying Earth to a different group outside of Ultimis, ‘Black Ops 2‘ faced an uphill battle even before Victis took over from the original four characters. However, the main issues didn’t stem from this change; instead, they arose when ‘Black Ops 2‘ aimed to revolutionize Zombies beyond what was expected at that time, which some players found unsettling.

Initially, the first map, TranZit, was vast yet fell short due to hardware constraints, often leading to disappointing gameplay. Conversely, Die Rise had an excessive amount of verticality which made it less enjoyable. However, Black Ops 2 concluded triumphantly with a thrilling trilogy of maps – Buried, Mob of the Dead, and Origins. The ambiance, map designs, and intriguing narratives in Black Ops 2 continue to evoke nostalgia and fun even today.

2 Call of Duty: Black Ops

The Ultimate Nostalgia in Atmosphere and Map Design

In a number of significant ways, Black Ops stands out, one of which is its pivotal role in shaping the unique identity of the Call of Duty Zombies. Prior to Black Ops, most maps for this mode were constructed using recycled assets from both campaign and multiplayer environments. However, the introduction of Call of the Dead marked a turning point by offering the opportunity to develop separate visual aesthetics and ideas that would ultimately expand and evolve the series into what it is recognized as today.

Black Ops boasted an impressive array of maps, many of which remain fondly remembered by fans such as Kino Der Toten and the innovative finale, Moon. These aspects are part of why Black Ops continues to be nostalgically cherished and serves as a model for what makes Call of Duty Zombies so exceptional.

1 Call of Duty: Black Ops 3

Incredible Storylines, Addicting Gameplay Loops and Stylised Maps

Some players might find it surprising that Black Ops 3 Zombies remains highly favored within the gaming community. Despite its transition away from horror elements towards sci-fi fantasticality, it continues to shine due to its swift gameplay, immersive maps with striking visual contrasts, and a captivating narrative that revolves around its intriguing characters. The Primis crew’s battle to safeguard the Multiverse from the Dark Aether is well-known among fans of Call of Duty Zombies.

Apart from boasting an engaging narrative and hidden quests featuring renowned battles against bosses, Black Ops 3 stood out for its extensive array of maps. From the timeless favorites showcased in Zombies Chronicles, to the more intricate maps of the Season Pass that offered enthralling additional missions to sustain players’ interest throughout the rounds, Black Ops 3 mastered the gameplay dynamic with user-friendly training grounds, slide mechanics, and compelling characters.
