As a seasoned player and fanatic of Life is Strange: Double Exposure, I can confidently say that the hunt for those elusive Polaroids is a thrilling challenge that adds depth to the game’s narrative. With five Polaroids to find in Chapter 3 alone, each one offering a glimpse into the lives and secrets of the characters around us, it’s like being a detective in Arcadia Bay!
In “Life is Strange: Double Exposure,” there are several items hidden as Polaroid photos that offer insights into the lives of nearby individuals and locations when discovered. You’ll find some in every chapter, with a total of five to be found in Chapter 3.
Finding them might be challenging due to Max’s recently acquired ability to shift dimensions. This becomes even more difficult when the narrative progresses without you discovering them at first. However, there’s no need to fret if you miss some; you can revisit them using the Chapter Select option in the main menu. Each chapter is further divided into smaller segments, so you won’t have to play the entire game again if you’re content with your decisions.
Polaroid #1: Release The Kra-Can!
In the world known as the Dead World, you’ll discover your first Polaroid photo immediately following a conversation with Gwen, where she shares insights about Maya. After this chat, you should pick up Safi’s manuscript, which will then allow you to depart from the current location.
While in the Dead World, make your way to the coffee shop situated within the Fine Arts Building before approaching Yasmin in the Living World. You’ll find the Polaroid left on a table in the secluded corner of this coffee shop.
Polaroid #2: Sebastian The Hedgehog
After chatting with Yasmin, I discovered that Vinh could potentially have more insights about Maya. You’ll want to connect with him when you’re in the Living Realm, but here’s a catch – you can uncover his Polaroid only while traversing the Dead World. Fortunately, I’ll need to transition dimensions after my conversation with him, so it works out. Vinh will be quite secretive about the whole matter, and you’ll have to track down Diamond afterwards.
Upon entering that other dimension, make your first stop at his office. The Polaroid picture is sitting on the table near the sofas, where you shared or didn’t share a drink with him in a previous scene. After you finish there, don’t forget to snap a photo of the hedgehog in the photograph that’s resting on his desk.
Polaroid #3: Lucas’ Office
Just as its namesake hints, in Chapter 3, you’ll come across the third Polaroid while delving into Lucas’ office for additional details regarding Maya. Following a conversation with him in the Living World, you’ll need to transition to the realm known as the “Dead World” for further exploration of his office and uncovering why he seems reluctant to discuss Maya. It is within this world that you will discover the Polaroid hidden there.
It’s right next to the Golden Typewriter, which you can also investigate.
Make sure to grab it before you find the key and open the typewriter, though — otherwise, you won’t be able to go back and grab it.
Polaroid #4: Acid Pink Concert
After Max uncovers the information she sought about Maya, she’ll find herself reflecting on their past in Arcadia Bay at the Snapping Turtle bar within the Living World. Once the scene transitions and control is returned to her, guide Max towards the room that features a fireplace.
The Polaroid is lying on a barrel in this room, on the left as you enter and next to a door that leads outside. If you’re still not sure where to look, walk past Reggie and Diamond, then look at the far side of the room near the fireplace. Pick up the photo, and you’ll be treated to a free concert by Acid Pink.
Polaroid #5: Don’t Drink & Dive
Upon Max’s arrival home at the end of the day, she’ll uncover a disturbing scene – her house has been disorganized by an unwelcome guest. A closer inspection will reveal sounds coming from the Dark Room. But before you move towards that location and confront them, seek out the key location close to the kitchen, then revisit the Ghostly Realm to retrieve a Polaroid picture at this spot.
The Polaroid is located near a chair and a barrel, specifically on the other end of the living room. This is where you’d typically find her memory box and Safi’s poetry books. It marks the final Polaroid discovered in Chapter 3 of ‘Life is Strange: Double Exposure’.
