If you’ve watched trailers for Crimson Desert, you probably know White Horn, a powerful horned demon who lives in the snowy Pailune tundra. This guide will help you find him in the game and prepare for a challenging fight to the death.
You can find White Horn in Pailune by completing the “Deep-Rooted Sorrow” faction quest at Skoghorn Farm, but you’ll need to have finished several other Pailune faction quests first. Once you’ve done that, you can head to the Argent Peaks to defeat White Horn and claim his head.
How to Find White Horn, Shepherd of Souls in Crimson Desert
- White Horn, Shepherd of Souls, is unlocked after Chapter 5, and once you complete enough Faction Quests across Pailune.
- The White Horn quest is connected to “Deep-Rooted Sorrow”, which is found in Skoghorn Farm, but only once you’ve done enough Faction Quests already for the Pailune region to unlock the Skoghorn Tribe.
- Once you have the mission to defeat White Horn (White Horn of Snowhaven Hearth), you can head up the Argent Peaks, west of Skoghorn Farm.
Before you climb the mountain for the battle, make sure you have a few key items with you. It’s a three-part fight, and these will help!
What to Bring Before Fighting White Horn in Crimson Desert
- Bring plenty of Recovery Items, like Braised Meat and Meat Skewers. Both restore plenty of Health and Spirit.
- Bring Palmar Pills! This is a three-phase boss fight, so you might need to get revived at one point.
- Ice-Resistant Armor is nice, but not necessary. However, without it, your stamina will drain faster.
- Flame Strike is a MUST for this fight, as it will stun White Horn and force him to stop, drop, and roll. (We have a guide on how to get it here!)
- Turning Slash is another great skill to learn for this fight, as you can become invulnerable during the attack animation, and it deals great damage.
How to Beat White Horn in Crimson Desert
White Horn Phase #1
- Use R2 + Triangle to perform Flame Strike, which will set White Horn on fire and cause him to flail on the floor and open him for further attacks.
- Your main attacks should consist of Blinding Flash Finisher + Turning Slash, while using Focus to recover Spirit when it gets too low to perform these moves.
- Lock onto White Horn and strafe around him, focusing only on attacks and dodges, and never parries.
- He’ll rarely attack in this phase if you fight aggressively, but watch out for his forward charge and ground slams, which need to be dodged.
White Horn Phase #2
- White Horn will deploy a roar that renders you unable to move, so bring Roar-Resistant helmets if you can, but this effect only lasts a few seconds.
- White Horn will stomp on top of you and try to slash you, so be sure to dodge left or right to get out of the way.
- White Horn’s invulnerable attack has ice fall from the sky while he frantically dashes towards you, so keep spamming dodge.
- The attack pattern that you need to use is consistent with phase 1: Flame Strike, Blinding Flash Finisher + Turning Slash, and repeat.
White Horn Phase #3
- Surprisingly, the final phase is the easiest.
- Kearush will join you as an ally, and you can mostly ignore getting involved in the fight to let White Horn fight Kearush.
- Don’t worry about having to fight Kearush after, as he will kill White Horn and leave.
- For this phase, let Kearush do all the work, but occasionally jump in for a cheeky Turning Slash, then back away to avoid White Horn’s focus.
For defeating White Horn, you’ll get the White Horn’s Earring and the Frost Hail Abyss Gear.
