To celebrate two years since its release, Capcom might have hinted at new downloadable content for Dragon’s Dogma 2. Players have been eagerly awaiting more content for the RPG, and some sharp-eyed fans believe Capcom has subtly included clues suggesting something is coming soon.
After a 12-year wait, Dragon’s Dogma 2 launched in March 2024 and quickly became a hit with both critics and players. The game received very positive reviews, averaging an 87 on OpenCritic, and sold millions of copies for Capcom. However, despite its success, the developers didn’t release any additional downloadable content after launch, which disappointed many fans.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 Anniversary Artwork May Contain DLC Hints
To celebrate the second anniversary of Dragon’s Dogma 2, Capcom released a piece of artwork showing characters from the game enjoying themselves in a tavern. While it initially appears to be a lighthearted tribute to the RPG, fans quickly spotted some intriguing details. A Reddit user named PaiDuck started a discussion pointing out these clues. Some are subtle, others more obvious. The most noticeable is a character standing alone in the background, highlighted by a blue glow. This character is turned away from the others and has a hairstyle and outfit not currently seen in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
A recent discovery—a scroll with Elvish writing—has sparked excitement among players of Dragon’s Dogma 2. They’ve translated the text, which reports confirmed sightings of griffins flying from a northern region called Organ. While Organ isn’t officially part of the game’s established world, players noticed the game already references an unnamed northern area. This has led many to believe this is a hint about the first downloadable content (DLC). One player felt the clue was too obvious to be a coincidence. However, others suggest this is an example of fans eagerly searching for secrets—and potentially seeing patterns that aren’t there—as a way to cope with waiting for new content. Some simply think the connection is a bit of a long shot.
Just because of this artwork doesn’t mean new DLC for Dragon’s Dogma 2 is confirmed. While fans have been hoping for an expansion, Capcom hasn’t said anything official yet. Players should wait for an announcement from the developers to know for sure. However, the inclusion of details like the Elvish scroll does make you wonder if Capcom is subtly hinting at future content.
Now that Dragon’s Dogma 2 is doing so well, I really don’t think Capcom will just abandon the series. Honestly, at this point, I’m expecting DLC more than a whole new game. And, please, Capcom, if you do make a Dragon’s Dogma 3, don’t make us wait another twelve years like we did for the sequel! That was a long time!
