The “Stolen Quarry” quest in Crimson Desert takes you directly to a large bandit fortress. Your mission is simple: eliminate all the bandits. However, it’s a challenging task! You’ll face waves of Bleed Bandits and must also defeat a powerful mechanical boss to complete the quest. Here’s a guide to help you through this Crimson Desert adventure.
How to Complete Stolen Quarry in Crimson Desert
Count Roberts, whom you’ll meet at Bluemont Manor, will send you to one of his quarries. Unfortunately, it’s now controlled by bandits. This quarry is located north of Hernand, and it’s swarming with enemies. They’re similar to the Bleed Bandits you encounter on the roads, but you’ll face about twenty of them at once, so it’s a good idea to improve your equipment before heading there.
When you arrive at the quarry, you’ll encounter bandit patrols and groups of captured refugees. Defeat the bandits and free the refugees to earn extra Hernand Contribution points. After that, move deeper into the quarry and prepare for a fight.
Okay, so when you first go into the quarry, you’ll see a bunch of buildings listed on the left. Those are like extra perks the bandits are using. We’re still figuring out exactly what each one does, but we know the Infirmary is really annoying – it heals up their wounded guys and throws them right back into the battle! You can either destroy those buildings to shut them down, or just fight through the stronghold like normal. It’s up to you!
Tips
- Make sure you have a ton of food ready. If you don’t, go back to Hernand, buy ingredients from the butcher and the grocer, then cook some meals. Clear Soup is one of the best healing items early on, as it heals nicely, and it’s made from common ingredients.
- Use Grappling attacks to control the crowds. Lariat moves cause shockwaves to echo whenever you slam your poor victim’s face to the ground. This will knock back everyone else who happens to be nearby.
- Watch out for explosive barrels. Anything that’s marked with a white X will explode when hit. You can use this to your advantage by picking then up and throwing them, or by detonating them with arrows.
- Use Blinding Flash when you’re surrounded. This will momentarily stun everyone in front of you. On a related note, get the Blinding Flash Finisher skill so you can follow up with a devastating combo.
- Bring a two-handed weapon. Longswords have excellent reach, and their wide sweeps can help you hit mulitple enemies at once.
Excavatron Boss Fight
Once the stronghold health bar on the left side of your screen empties, you can go to the arena west of the quarry to battle Excavatron. This robotic miner uses drills as hands, and while the fight isn’t too difficult, attacking too often or recklessly will be heavily penalized.
Excavatron Boss Tips
- Keep blocking. You can block Excavatron’s attacks even when it’s burrowed underground.
- Hit, run, repeat. The boss is fairly hard to stagger, and its attacks hit multiple times in quick succession. You can easily get stunlocked if you get caught by its drills. Turning Slash is great for dealing good damage in a short amount of time.
- Save big combos for when the boss is staggered. You’ll eventually force Excavatron down onto its knees, and when you do, use the most efficient, high-damage combo you know.
- Bring Palmar Pills. If you do get defeated while fighting the boss, you can always pop a Palmar Pill to get right back up.
After dealing with the bandits, talk to the count’s representative. Then, head back to Hernand and speak with the count directly. He’ll reward you with a Gold Vein Map, showing you where to find caves rich in gold ore. Defeating Excavatron will also earn you a Drillknuckle, which you can use instead of a Pickaxe.
After you obtain the Gold Vein Map, take a look at your map. You’ll see new caves appear to the west of Hernand. Explore these caves to discover gold ore and other valuable items.
