As a seasoned Zombies player who’s survived countless waves of the undead, let me tell you, having the right augments can make all the difference between living and getting eaten alive by the ravenous horde.
Since the introduction of iconic Perk-a-Colas in Verruckt, perks have consistently been a key feature of Treyarch’s Zombies modes. This trend continues in Black Ops 6.
Instead, what sets these perks apart are the additions known as augments. For each perk, you can select one of three major augments and one of three minor ones. These augments grant the perks additional functionalities.
This time around, the selection of benefits has undergone slight changes. Some benefits are now referred to as augmentations, others have been omitted completely, and there’s a brand-new one added to the mix.
In other words, each Call of Duty title may have a unique set of four key benefits that differ from what you’re accustomed to.
8 Melee Macchiato
They Punch Back
Ability | Increases melee damage |
Requirement To Unlock Augments | Research 9 total augments |
The most recent benefit is, regrettably, the least effective one. Killing enemies up close no longer awards extra points, so there’s limited motivation to engage in melee combat except for occasional scenarios such as running out of ammo or during lengthy reloads, or if you genuinely enjoy hitting zombies with a baseball bat.
Instead, let me put it this way: This advantage eliminates just a single zombie at once. Furthermore, it is situated quite far away from your starting point in both Liberty Falls and Terminus. Consequently, by the time you reach it, its usefulness has significantly diminished.
Using the Triple Shot major augmentation, you have the power to eliminate as many as three zombies with a single blow, which gives it some added utility. However, it eventually loses its relevance by round 15 in the game.
Additionally, there is the Vampiric Extraction major enhancement, which restores a minimal amount of your health upon melee attacks, and the Hidden Impact minor enhancement, which reloads a small portion of your weapon’s ammunition. These enhancements add some functionality to the perk but are less effective in actual gameplay.
7 Quick Revive
This Perk Needs A Revive
Ability | Increases the speed of reviving and health regeneration |
Requirement To Unlock Augments | Research 3 total augments |
In a more contemporary context, the traditional advantage no longer serves its original purpose. Now that players can create self-resurrecting items, Quick Revive doesn’t hold the same value. It still has some use in single player modes due to its faster health recovery, but this benefit is minimal and hardly noticeable compared to its past importance.
It’s beneficial to play against novice opponents who frequently lose their position, but generally speaking, it’s wiser to place your bets on avoiding losing your position instead.
Enhancing the EMT major, a feature that lets revived allies retain all their abilities, could revolutionize older Call of Duty games. However, in Black Ops 6, you typically only keep one perk when getting revived, which significantly reduces its utility.
In simpler terms, the Equivalent Exchange major augment lets you resuscitate three times after being defeated, but only when you kill a zombie – this is beneficial only if you possess the Ray Gun or a Pack-a-Punched pistol. Regularly slaying zombies with the 9mm PM will eventually render you incapable of avoiding defeat.
The Dying Wish major augment, named after the perk from , sacrifices the perk to make you immune to damage when receiving fatal damage for two seconds.
This can be super useful, but not when it’s at the expense of other, often more useful perks.
6 PhD Flopper
A Bit Of A Flop
Ability | Grants immunity to self-inflicted explosive damage, and diving creates an explosion |
Requirement To Unlock Augments | Research 15 total augments |
In Black Ops 6, this particular advantage might lead to more complications than advantages. Previously, explosions were beneficial for swiftly eliminating swarms of zombies. But in this game, zombies are capable of striking you multiple times as you leap through the air. Consequently, getting close to zombies becomes quite hazardous, and usually isn’t advisable.
One way to rephrase that in a more natural and easy-to-read manner could be: “The primary advantage of this bonus is that it protects you from self-explosive damage caused by weapons like rocket launchers, the Ray Gun, or the Pack-a-Punched GS45, thus reducing your risk of harm.
This feature boasts several handy enhancements, including the Dr. Ram Major Boost, which enables you to knock over zombies while sprinting tactically.
Additionally, there’s the PhD Slider major enhancement, nicknamed after its predecessors, enabling you to detonate near enemies upon sliding towards them. These enhancements give the perk a touch of practicality and could potentially rescue you in tight spots.
5 Deadshot Daiquiri
Boom, Headshot!
Ability | Increases critical hit damage, and ADS locks onto heads |
Requirement To Unlock Augments | Research 18 total augments |
As a gamer, I can vouch that the Deadshot Daiquiri packs quite a punch, particularly when it comes to tackling camouflage challenges. This bad boy cranks up your critical damage, making short work of hordes of enemies if they’re not equipped with wonders or explosives.
The majority of these enhancements boost the significant damage inflicted, which is fantastic, but it’s important to note that there are equally powerful alternatives available too.
As a thrill-seeker, I can’t help but appreciate the added perk in Dead Again – every headshot offers me an opportunity to top up my ammo magazine. This feature significantly increases the duration I can spend blasting through hordes of zombies before needing to reload, making each gameplay experience even more exhilarating!
Moreover, you’ll find the Dead Break minor augment particularly useful, as it amplifies the damage dealt to armor components. This comes in handy during encounters with armored undead like zombies and Manglers, which are common foes you’ll frequently face.
4 Speed Cola
Don’t Get Caught With Your Plates Down
Ability | Increases reload and armor replating speeds |
Requirement To Unlock Augments | Research 12 total augments |
Using Speed Cola significantly expedites the process of reloading some firearms, making it almost indispensable for certain types. For instance, rocket launchers and numerous Submachine Guns require frequent reloads, while Light Machine Guns can take an extended period.
You also replate armor faster with it, which is a nice bonus.
Compared to the enhancements of other perks, those for Speed Cola seem rather underwhelming. However, the significant boost in reload speed provided by the Classic Formula’s major enhancement and the Supercharged major augment’s faster field upgrade recharge are somewhat helpful, even if not exceptionally so.
On the other hand, the Phantom Reload major augment is remarkably powerful. It automatically replenishes your magazines at a steady pace. The quickest reload occurs when bullets seemingly materialize in your magazine instantaneously.
3 Stamin-Up
Outrun Death
Ability | Increases movement speed |
Requirement To Unlock Augments | No requirements |
In this game, zombies are quite swift. However, with Stamin-Up, you can boost your speed even further. Navigating rapidly across narrow, rapidly shrinking spaces amidst the zombies can be a lifesaver during difficult encounters.
Most of the augments aren’t particularly strong, but there are two to take note of.
In simpler terms, using the term “Hard Target” as a minor enhancement, means that the damage caused by bullets lessens while you are sprinting tactically. This feature proves useful when under fire from Manglers and Parasites on the planet Terminus.
In simpler terms, the augment called Stalker (named after an ability in the original Modern Warfare 3) boosts your speed when aiming, making it easier for you to evade a horde of zombies. This feature can be particularly helpful while retreating and clearing out these approaching enemies. Keep in mind that avoiding getting hit is the main objective.
2 Elemental Pop
It’s Every Flavor
Ability | Gives attacks a chance to trigger an ammo mod’s effect |
Requirement To Unlock Augments | Research 21 total augments |
Enhancements make the fundamental impacts more potent than before. A solitary activation of Dead Wire could obliterate a vast group, whereas Shadow Rift carries a risk to instantly defeat Manglers, and even Abominations and Amalgams when enhanced.
Regarding enhancements for this skill, the significant boost for Imperil Peach increases the likelihood that enemies will cause an elemental reaction whenever they strike you. This can be beneficial when you’re in a tight spot.
In a more practical sense, there’s the Electric Cherry major augment, a term derived from the iconic Zombies perk called “Zombies in Mob of the Dead,” which was first introduced in Black Ops II. This augment generates an electric shock when reloading that temporarily stuns zombies. Essentially, you’re getting two benefits with this single perk.
1 Jugger-Nog
The Series Juggernaut
Ability | Increases health |
Requirement To Unlock Augments | Research 6 total augments |
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve always found myself drawn to the iconic drink, Jugger-Nog, in every Call of Duty Zombies game. The boosted health it provides is nothing short of game-changing, making me a force to be reckoned with in the face of the undead horde.
The augments, unsurprisingly, make it even stronger.
In the new version of Zombies, Turtle Shell serves as a significant enhancement, providing you with protection from harm coming from behind, similar to how riot shields functioned when they were not equipped in earlier modes. Since riot shields are absent in Black Ops 6, Turtle Shell takes on this role for the Zombies gameplay.
Additionally, there are two types of minor enhancements for boosting armor: Tough Plates and Resilient Plates. A significant enhancement called Reactive Armor can stun adversaries when an armor plate shatters. Another major augmentation is Probiotic, which further strengthens your health. Lastly, Retaliation is a minor augment that amplifies your damage when your health is depleted.
All of these are extremely strong, making Jugger-Nog a must-have.
