Twitch Has Banned Central Committee

Twitch Has Banned Central Committee

Key Takeaways

  • Central Committee was banned from Twitch in early November 2024.
  • The suspension is believed to be related to his recent stream in which he insinuated he’d pay someone $100,000 to do something to Destiny.
  • Central Committee said he “deserved” the ban, but insisted that the comment was a joke.

As a long-time follower of Central Committee, or Mike From PA as he’s known to many, I must say that his latest Twitch ban comes as no surprise. The man has a knack for stirring controversy and pushing boundaries, which is part of what makes him so intriguing. His political commentary is always insightful, even if it can be a bit brash at times.

In early November 2024, Twitch streamer Michael Beyer, commonly recognized as Central Committee online, received a ban from the Amazon-controlled platform. This marks his fourth ban on Twitch since 2019.

Mike Beyer, more commonly known online as Mike From PA, is an American broadcaster who focuses on political and societal discourse. Prior to launching his Central Committee Twitch channel in August 2019, he had previously contested for the Democratic Party’s nomination for Pennsylvania House of Representatives District 131 in 2014, ultimately losing to Justin Simmons, who represented the Republican Party at that time.

Beyer’s streaming activities have sometimes been halted due to Twitch bans, with the latest one occurring on November 9th. Although Amazon’s streaming platform typically doesn’t disclose its moderation reasoning, it appears that Central Committee was banned this time for hinting at offering payment for an action directed towards Steven Kenneth Bonnell II (also known as Destiny), a well-known political commentator online, which could have been the cause.

Central Committee Says He ‘Deserved’ His Latest Twitch Ban

During a broadcast on November 8, Beyer took issue with something Destiny had said and proposed an offer to his viewers. He suggested they could earn $100,000 if they reside in Florida. It’s worth noting that Destiny has been based in Miami since the end of 2021. The remark made by Central Committee might have breached Twitch’s community guidelines, as these rules prohibit any statements or actions that imply a threat of harm or violence, or encourage others to engage in behaviors potentially harmful to others. In response to being banned, Beyer expressed on Twitter the next day that he felt he deserved it.

Regarding the subject at hand, the streamer clarified that he was making a jest about compensating his audience for bullying or causing harm to Destiny. He stated, “The joke wasn’t amusing.” At this moment, it is uncertain how long Beyer’s recent ban will continue. Twitch typically has a strict no-tolerance policy when it comes to speech that incites violence, and even first-time offenders could face permanent suspension for such infractions. It remains to be seen if Central Committee can secure some leniency due to the ambiguity in their statement.

On Amazon’s streaming service, this type of dramatic situation isn’t completely unheard of. In fact, back in 2024, a Twitch streamer named Denims faced accusations of offering a $30,000 reward similar to what we’re seeing now. Asmongold shared that he even received a call from the FBI about this incident, but ultimately chose not to file charges as he believed she was merely joking and wasn’t specifically targeting him.
