Guild Wars 2: Best Rich Orichalcum Vein Locations

Guild Wars 2: Best Rich Orichalcum Vein Locations

Key Takeaways

  • Orichalcum nodes provide valuable metal crafting materials in Guild Wars 2.
  • Gathering rich orichalcum nodes daily with mounts and stealth skills can accumulate wealth.
  • Rich nodes spawn in these specific locations across Tyria, guarded by powerful enemies.

As someone who has spent countless hours exploring the vast and wondrous landscapes of Tyria, I can confidently say that these instructions are a treasure trove for any aspiring adventurer. Each location presents its own unique challenges and rewards, making them an exciting journey for both seasoned veterans and newcomers alike.

The highest tier of metal crafting materials in Guild Wars 2, orichalcum, is a rare and expensive ore used in weapon and armor crafting. Alongside other farms, such as a flax run, selling a stack every day can help to accumulate a small fortune in gold. While they can be found throughout the world, including the rich variety, orichalcum nodes are limited and spawn sporadically across Tyria. However, there are a handful of rich nodes that can be mined once a day and are guaranteed to appear in the same location.

To fully explore all these nodes and unlock them all, you’ll need the “Path of Fire” expansion, as well as the mount traversal abilities it provides. The expansion set will help you find all these nodes, but if you want to gather resources more efficiently, I highly recommend the Season 4 skyscale. When it comes to stealthy mining, characters like thieves, mesmers, or engineers (particularly with their Scrapper elite specialization) are ideal for undercover operations due to their skills that grant invisibility.

Crystal Oasis – Amnoon Southern Outskirts, Vulture Den

In The Vulture’s Lair On The Outskirts Of The City

  • Recommended Mounts: Roller Beetle & Griffon

From the Amnoon Waypoint, exit through the east gate and make your way southeasterly. Climb up a series of rocky outcrops, and you’ll find the entrance to a mining area on the far right of the rocky cliffside, where some seasoned vultures reside.

Instead, head toward the riches on the right-side; steer clear of those places while you search for a valuable Orichalcum source. Not only is there a wealthier node nearby, but there are also numerous solitary Orichalcum ore spots scattered around Amnoon. Unlike the one guarded by vultures in the mine, the locations of these desert deposits are unpredictable.

Crystal Oasis – Destiny’s Gorge

Climbing Up And Into The Forge-Held Mines

  • Recommended Mounts: Sand Jackal

Beginning from the Destiny’s Gorge Waypoint, move in a northbound direction. Accompany the river’s flow and take the right turn when you reach the junction. Ascend the ramps ahead and veer left at the summit, entering the mines teeming with formidable Forged adversaries. Follow the track of the ascending minecart and once more, choose the left path.

At the end of this path lies a valuable orichalcum deposit. Once you’ve mined all the ore, don’t forget to pick up the quartz crystal located on the other side of the cave. You can easily access the rich quartz crystal location with a skyscale, which is above and to the west, over a mine swarming with Forged creatures.

Crystal Oasis – Elona Reach, Temple of Kormir

Overlooking The Temple At The Base Of A Tree

  • Recommended Mounts: Skyscale & Springer

Starting from the circular plaza near Temple of Kormir Waypoint, head north on foot. If you have a skyscale, ascend the cliff directly using nearby structures. In its absence, travel along the eastern road, then reverse your direction at the summit and go west instead.

As a seasoned gamer navigating the realm of Guild Wars 2, beware! The cunning traps and deadly sharpshooters lurking atop the terrain can easily bring down even the most skilled riders. Don’t let your guard down, especially near the Temple of Kormir, where a colossal tree serves as a vantage point for crafty veteran Dust Mite twisters. Tread carefully, for hidden beneath this towering sentinel lies an enticing orichalcum node brimming with riches.

Desert Highlands – Highjump Ranch

A Jump And A Short Flight Over From The Ranch

  • Recommended Mounts: Griffon or Skyscale

This rich orichalcum node can be found to the east of Highjump Ranch. From the waypoint, climb as high as possible before setting off south by air. The second step, besides the long plateau, is protected by veteran jacarandas.

Jacaranda trees are capable of rapidly amassing, posing a challenge for crowd management, yet concealing a valuable resource – a rich node – behind the tree they are protecting. Occasionally, a piece of orichalcum, a rare mineral, can be discovered nearby on the elevated plateau.

Desert Highlands – Brightwater

Mining The Middle Of A Mushroom-Shaped Plateau

  • Recommended Mounts: Springer or Griffon

On the world map, this rich orichalcum node looks tantalizingly close to the Brightwater Waypoint, but there is quite a vertical climb between it and the prize. The best path up is northward, up the steep ledges. From there, double back and find a way to hop onto the mushroom-like platforms.

The bigger one among the two holds the valuable node and is protected by an experienced Dust Mite spinner. Eliminate it and begin excavation. Using a soaring mount such as the skyscale, you can track the narrow plateau north towards the rich orichalcum node which would typically be flown to from Highjump Ranch if not for this route.

The Desolation – Sand Jackel Run

On The Slither Of Walkable Terrain

  • Recommended Mounts: the skimmer

Collecting from that vein is generally straightforward, yet the snakes, bugs, and watchful Awakened pose challenges to the task. To reach it, take off from the Sand Jackel Run Waypoint and travel east over the sulfurous terrain using a skimmer, aiming for the dark-domed structure in sight.

On the map, you’ll see a dome indicating a hovering tower; beneath it lies a valuable orichalcum vein. Keep an eye out for the wyrm that shoots from afar; nearby enemies in the vicinity can be lethal. Additionally, there is a standard orichalcum node to the north, worth investigating.

The Desolation – Lair of the Forgotten

Up And Around The Corner From The Snake’s Lair

  • Recommended Mounts: Raptor

From the Hidden Vantage Point, head north-east, following the valley’s course past the entrance gate. Travel along the curvy path towards the sulfur mine, ensuring you stay on the trail to its left side.

The rich orichalcum vein is situated against a black rocky hillside. There will be either a veteran sand eel or ghostly hyenas guarding the prize.

The Desolation – Bonestrand

The Secret Behind The Great Waterfall

  • Recommended Mounts: Skimmer & Sand Jackal (Required)

Beginning at Bonestrand Waypoint, situated on the peak of The Desolation, adjacent to the Bone Wall overlooking the Elon Riverlands, proceed due east, crossing the body of water, the natural stone archway, followed by a lake, and continue towards the cascading waterfall.

As a gamer, I’d stride up the hill armed with my sand jackal, on a quest to discover a sand portal hidden among the cascading waterfalls. With a swift flick of the teleport power that my stylish jackal possesses, I’ll dart into the mysterious cave. The cave’s entrance is adorned by a statue – none other than Abaddon, the enigmatic and tentacled deity from Guild Wars 2, who seems to be keeping a watchful eye. To the right of this intriguing statue lies the node I seek.

Domain Of Vabbi – Sunspear Sanctuary

Two Rich Nodes Northeast And Southwest

  • Recommended Mounts: Griffon or Skyscale

As a gamer, I found it simpler to reach this spot using the Spearmarshal’s Plea gadget. You can grab it while progressing through the questline that unlocks the griffon. Sadly, once destroyed, you can’t retrieve it again.

Begin your journey at the Market Ruins Waypoint, located near the left side of the Brand scar. Proceed towards the Spearmarshal’s Lement Point of Interest from there. The valuable ore vein can be found on the southern road, situated at the most southeastern part of the map.

Domain Of Vabbi – Necropolis, At The Base of the Crypt

A Well-Guarded Spot At The Bottom Of The Tar Pit

  • Recommended Mounts: Sand Jackal or Skyscale

To successfully mine the orichalcum here, it’s advisable to possess abilities that allow for stealth. The quickest access point is through the Necropolis Waypoint. Make your way towards the large building located southwest of here with the distinctive red dome.

Instead of heading straight for the stairs leading to the back, look for the spiral staircase; beneath it lies another route towards The Crypts’ point of interest. Avoid drawing the attention of the undead as you navigate towards the lowest area. At the bottom, near a slope, you’ll find a particularly strong Awakened Abomination. Sneak past it and grab the ore without causing any trouble.

The Domain of Kourna – Dabiji Hollows (Living World Season 4, Episode 3)

At The Tippy Top Of The Desert Mountain

  • Recommended Mounts: Springer or Skyscale

To access this area, you’ll need both “Long Live The Lich,” an episode from Guild Wars 2’s Living World Season 4, and the Path of Fire expansion. Once you have that, find yourself at the Dabjaji Waypoint and make your way towards the mountains over the bridge.

Ascending the majestic peaks, I find myself veering to the left, spotting a pair of vultures resting atop. On one of these smaller, towering platforms lies a valuable orichalcum deposit. Close by on the mountain summit, another precious mithril vein awaits discovery.
