Rogue Point: Black Mesa Devs Reveal Four-Player Co-Op Shooter

As a dedicated gamer and long-time fan of Crowbar Collective’s masterpiece, Black Mesa, I am beyond excited about their new venture – Rogue Point! After a decade-long hiatus (if we exclude the 2020 Steam release of Black Mesa), it’s a thrill to see them stepping into uncharted territory. With a solid partnership with Team17 and a roguelite structure that offers hundreds of playstyles, Rogue Point promises an intense cooperative shooter experience.

The group known as Crowbar Collective, famous for their highly successful remake of Half-Life titled ‘Black Mesa’, has unveiled a brand new cooperative shooter game – Rogue Point. This gripping shooter offers strategic gameplay and follows a roguelike design, with the team at Crowbar Collective highlighting that each mission can be approached from ‘hundreds of different strategies’.

Black Mesa to Rogue Point

As a dedicated fan, I’ve eagerly awaited a fresh installment from Crowbar Collective for more than a decade now. Granted, there was the Steam release of the Definitive Edition of Black Mesa in 2020, but this upcoming launch feels like a whole new chapter in my gaming journey with them.

From its debut, Black Mesa has been met with tremendous success, garnering over 100,000 reviews on Steam and maintaining a ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ overall rating. This strong foundation lays a solid groundwork for future endeavors. To further bolster the release of Rogue Point, Crowbar Collective has teamed up with Team 17, providing additional support to the project.

In Rogue Point, players encounter challenging and diverse adversaries across multiple battlefields. These battlegrounds shift for every skirmish, making the gameplay dynamic and ever-changing. As each round progresses, players must juggle economic aspects, enhance their characters, and coordinate strategies with their teammates.

This game is uniquely designed as a teamwork-focused title, with each play session resembling a round in Counter-Strike – a fresh and intriguing approach to gaming.

While Rogue Point appears to be an engaging shooter with numerous customization choices, it remains to be seen how well it performs during upcoming testing phases. Currently, the game is planned for release in early access in 2025, and we’ve been aware of its development since at least 2022.
