As a seasoned gamer with a knack for tackling the toughest challenges, I can’t wait to dive into the final battle with Louis in Metaphor: ReFantazio! The looming threat of Dread and the Devourer Of Stars has me on edge, but I’m ready for the fight.
In the closing stage of the game known as “Metaphor: ReFantazio”, a new weather phenomenon called Dread will blanket the world. This period will provide you with one month to ready yourself for the ultimate confrontation against Louis. Throughout this duration, you’ll encounter the Trial Of The Dragon, a challenging ordeal that pits you against some of the most formidable bosses in the game.
As a passionate admirer, let me share some exciting news: You can engage these formidable dragons in any sequence you prefer, and I’d dare say that the Devourer of Stars presents the most challenging combat experience. This battle is chock-full of unexpected twists, making it feel like you’re fighting with one hand tied behind your back! However, with a clever strategy and a dash of good fortune, victory is within reach!
How To Prepare For The Devourer Of Stars In Metaphor: ReFantazio
- Junah: Royal Masked Dancer – Debilitate, Medicall, Ice-Blue Dance, Dekaja, Ren Patra, Makarakarn
- Protagonist: Prince – Royal Slash, Hero’s Cry, Tetrakarn
- Strohl: Warlord – Shelter Formation, Megidola, Frigid Fortress Tactic
- Eupha: Royal Summoner – Summon Fairy (Modified), Vitalja, Matarukaja, Marakukaja
- Bring lots of Curative Coney Roast, other party-wide healing items, and Balms of Life.
- Max out Catherina and Gallica’s bond ranks to help your odds.
It’s not mandatory, but maximizing Catherina’s bond and having her present during the battle today is beneficial because she will initiate the fight by inflicting damage on the boss, earning you 5,000 points for free. Gallica’s bond level may provide her with a possibility to join the fray unexpectedly and grant you additional Press Turn icons (up to two), although it can be very helpful when it does activate. Many of the skills mentioned above can be transferred to other character types via Skill Inheritance, but most of these skills are crucial for optimal performance in this role.
Also, try to equip gear of any kind that makes your party resistant to Hex.
How To Beat The Devourer Of Stars In Metaphor: ReFantazio
In this supervisor’s battle, you’ll encounter several unpredictable elements that require adaptability. It’s essential to understand that luck plays a significant role here, and sometimes you might have to restart to achieve an optimal sequence of events. The key challenges include:
- This boss reflects all types of damage, so Almighty is your only option, naturally.
- On its first turn, the dragon will use a unique ability that sets everyone’s health to a maximum of 300 for the entire fight.
When the dragon isn’t boosted, it emits Great Dragon Shriek twice to reach its maximum attack potential, but this consumes two Press Turn icons. It also possesses Dekunda, which removes any debuffs you inflict, and Reset All, a skill that reverses all buffs on your entire party. Although these abilities may appear as disadvantages, they can be manipulated to control how the boss spends its turns, offering an opportunity for strategic gameplay.
In your opening move, employ the “Ice-Blue Dance from the Masked Dancer”, then switch to the “Frigid Fortress Tactic from your Warlord”, and finally summon the “Modified Summon Fairy” from the Royal Summoner. This combination will serve as our primary method for dealing damage, supplemented by powerful “Royal Slashes” from the Protagonist whenever applicable. On subsequent turns, activate the “Shelter Formation” to bolster the party’s defense, and use “Dekaja” when the bosses’ attacks are active to remove all three ranks of buffs and force them to reapply them. Occasionally, apply the debilitate effect either to lower the boss’s defense and accuracy, or to make it waste a turn on Dekunda.
Tetrakarn and Makarakarn are absolute necessities in this fight.
In addition to casting Makarakarn on the Warlord, it’s wise to use this spell since Toxic Breath will exploit his vulnerability. Notably, Makarakarn not only safeguards him but also ends the boss’s turn prematurely. It’s beneficial to equip Tetrakarn on the Prince too, resulting in occasional basic attacks that conclude the boss’s turn. Keep Hero’s Cry handy for situations where three or even two party members are near defeat, especially towards the end of the battle. Generally, this fight will be prolonged with you attacking the boss only when it’s absolutely safe, as your objective each turn is to make the boss waste its turns by missing or hitting Makarakarn or Tetrakarn. When such an opportunity arises, unleash the ice attack sequence, and consider enhancing the protagonist with Vitalja to amplify the damage from Royal Slash.
Great Dragon’s Wrath
The boss’s ace in the hole it may use towards the middle of its health bar is Great Dragon’s Wrath, which gives it four more Press Turn Icons, for a total of seven if it uses it on its first turn in Hard Mode. This is why it’s important to keep Tetrakarn and Makarakarn active, as hitting one of those will negate this skill and the following turn. If you don’t have one of these active, all you can do is hope the boss misses, as it will buff itself and almost always wipe out the party.
