In Borderlands 4: Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, Big Oil is a challenging boss. Defeating it will reward you with two powerful Legendary items: the Honey Badger shield and the Sunspot pistol. We’ll show you what these items do here.
You can find Big Oil inside the Fuel Siphon, specifically during the Gurgling Stent Activity. This activity takes place in the Bloodstained Hollow. We’ll show you exactly where to find the boss and what valuable items he might drop.
How to Find Big Oil in Borderlands 4
- Big Oil is found in Bloodstained Hollow, specifically in the Fuel Sipon: The Gurgling Stent Activity.
- This location is marked on the map, but it’s easily accessible from the top left of the Bloodstained Hollow, the area where you meet Daphne during the story missions.
- Once you arrive, you can enter the boss arena by traveling through the bloodied waterfall.
- Inside, you’ll have to first fight some outlaws and other enemies to force Big Oil to spawn.
- Big Oil has two health bars, with the first being Armor (yellow), which makes Corrosive and Cryo great choices.
- The second health bar is Health (red), where Incendiary is the elemental weakness.
Big Oil Loot Table in Borderlands 4
| Legendary Item | Type | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Honey Badger | Daedalus Shield | Ferocity – Reduces self-Damage Dealt by 90% while Shield is active. |
| Sunspot | Order Pistol | Eclipse – Damage scales based on the emptiness of the Magazine. |
Okay, so the Honey Badger is this Energy Shield that’s pretty cool, but it’s not for everyone. It basically lets you mess around with really powerful, explosive weapons, but you take damage doing it! It claims to cut self-damage by 90%, which sounds awesome, but honestly, it all comes down to how much you’re willing to hurt yourself with your own gear. It’s a risky playstyle, but potentially super rewarding if you like living on the edge.
The Sunspot is a powerful Legendary Pistol that gets stronger as you use it – the less ammo in the magazine, the more damage it deals. With around 18 bullets per magazine, each shot becomes more impactful, making it great for taking down regular enemies, but less so for challenging bosses.
