A new leak suggests that Pokemon GO might soon get an item that automatically catches Pokemon, meaning players won’t need to constantly look at their phones. This comes as part of the game’s current ‘Memories in Motion’ season, which has already added features like Daily Discoveries and made it easier to find shiny Pokemon. More updates and new Pokemon are planned before the big Pokemon GO Fest 2026 event. This new auto-catching item could be a major addition as the game gets closer to its 10th anniversary.

Since launching in 2016, Pokemon GO has consistently added new features based on what players want and their suggestions. Recent helpful additions include Remote Raid Passes and Lucky Trinkets. The game also offers real-world accessories to improve gameplay, such as the Pokemon GO Plus+ released in 2023. This device automatically catches Pokemon and spins PokeStops, and it even connects to the Pokemon Sleep app. While not everyone has been able to get a Pokemon GO Plus+, a recent leak suggests more players may soon be able to enjoy automatic Pokemon catching.

Pokemon GO Leak Reveals New Explorer Gadget that Auto-Catches Pokemon

Recent discoveries by data experts who analyze Pokemon GO have revealed a new item called the “Explorer Gadget” hidden within the game’s code. This gadget is designed to automatically throw Poke Balls and spin PokeStops while you play. Interestingly, the code suggests it can even catch Pokemon for you even when you’re not actively using the Pokemon GO app – though it appears to be limited to one use per day. Essentially, the Explorer Gadget would offer similar benefits to the older Plus+ device, but without requiring any extra hardware. If this leak is accurate, the Explorer Gadget could be a significant and welcome addition to Pokemon GO, greatly improving the player experience.

The biggest advantage of the Plus+ accessory over the virtual Explorer Gadget is that you can use it repeatedly during the day. However, the Plus+ is quite expensive, around $100, making the Explorer Gadget a potentially good, more affordable option. It’s also possible that Pokémon GO will offer the Explorer Gadget as part of a paid bundle or through the in-game shop. Keep in mind that information found through data mining isn’t always accurate, as Scopely might change or even cancel plans for the Explorer Gadget.

Some items released in the AR game haven’t been well-received by players. When Gold Bottle Caps were introduced in Pokemon GO in June 2025, many players were unhappy because they were only available through a paid event pass, excluding those who play for free.
