Combat Settings
Hello there, video game enthusiasts! I’ve spent countless hours honing my skills and tweaking controller settings to optimize my gaming experience, and today I’m delighted to share with you the setup that I swear by – especially when it comes to Black Ops 6.
In Call of Duty Black Ops 6, you have a vast array of controller settings to tailor the gameplay experience to your preference. However, with so many customization choices available, it can become somewhat daunting.
Here’s a helpful guide if you’re finding it tough and seeking relaxing settings across all aspects of Black Ops 6 and Warzone. This list will give you a headstart.
Controller Settings
Let’s dive right into the Input Settings section, which can be found under Controller Settings for your convenience. To make the details more accessible, I’ve divided them into two parts. Later on, I’ll explain why we choose certain settings, but if you’re in a hurry, here’s a table with all the information:
Setting | Value |
---|---|
Edit Button Layout | Default or Tactical |
Stick Layout Preset | Default |
Horizontal Stick Sensitivity | 6 |
Vertical Stick Sensitivity | 6 |
Simplified Controls Preset | Off |
Low Motor Strain Preset | Off |
L1 Button Ping | Off |
Swap L1/R1 with L2/R2 | Off |
I use the Default Button Layout as I hold my controller with a Claw Grip (left index finger on the face buttons). If you don’t do this, I recommend the Tactical configuration, as it allows you to jump while keeping both thumbs on the sticks.
As a gamer, I’ve discovered that a sensitivity of 6 strikes a nice balance for me – it’s quick enough to keep up with the action, but not so swift that precision becomes a struggle. Some gamers might opt for a lower vertical sensitivity, but personally, I haven’t encountered any problems with this setting.
Vibration and Deadzones
Setting | Value |
---|---|
Controller Vibration | Off |
Trigger Effect | Off |
Deadzone Left Stick Min | 2 |
Deadzone Right Stick Min | 2 |
Deadzone Left Stick Max | 80 |
Deadzone Right Stick Max | 99 |
In battle situations, we prefer to disable Vibration and Trigger Effects since they seem unnecessary for success in combat. The Call of Duty series excels at communicating essential information to players without needing their controllers to vibrate.
Setting the deadzone in your game controls appropriately is crucial. Aim for the minimum settings to be as low as feasible, but remember not to lower them so much that they pick up any unintended Stick Drift. Since my controller is brand new, I’ve set mine fairly low, but you might need yours slightly higher depending on your equipment. Additionally, I’ve adjusted the maximum deadzone for the left stick, which helps me keep better control when I move the joystick forcefully around its housing.
Aiming Settings
As a seasoned gamer, I’ve tailored my Aiming settings to suit my playstyle. For instance, I’ve tweaked the Aim Assist to provide that extra helping hand in tight spots, and cranked up the sensitivity when I’m peering down the sights. Let me share why these choices work best for me:
Setting | Value |
---|---|
Sensitivity Multiplier | Default |
ADS Sensitivity Multiplier | 0.90 |
ADS Sensitivity Transition Timing | Gradual |
Aim Response Curve | Dynamic |
Target Aim Assist | On |
ADS Aim Assist | On |
Motion Sensor Behavior | Off |
Reduce your ADS (Aim Down Sights) sensitivity to 0.90 for smoother aiming in long-range battles. It might seem slower initially, but I’ve found it extremely helpful in hitting distant targets, especially since Verdansk. Give it a try with a gun like the XM4 that has minimal recoil and see if you prefer it.
Additionally, we adjusted the “Aim Assist” feature into a more dynamic mode, a preference that top players have relied on since the game’s beta phase.
I’ve not played Call of Duty with motion controls, but I don’t believe they are without merit. I’ve seen Splatoon 3 professionals use motion controls to great effect, so there’s clearly some value to them.
Motion controls could also be a great accessibility feature if you struggle with the control sticks. I can’t speak with any authority, but don’t rule them out if they may be helpful to you.
Movement Settings
We usually keep the majority of movement choices set to their original settings, since these effectively utilize the latest all-directional movement feature.
Setting | Value |
---|---|
Sprint Assist | Tactical Sprint Assist |
Sprint Assist Delay | 0 |
Sprint Assist Sideways | On |
Sprint Assist Backward | On |
Mantle Assist | Off |
Crouch Assist | Off |
Corner Slice | On |
Slide/Dive Behavior | Hybrid |
Auto Door Peek | Off |
Automatic Airborne Mantle | On |
Sprint Restore | On |
Slide Maintains Sprint | On |
Parachute Automatic Behavior | Free Fall |
Mantle Cancels Reload | On |
Movement Advanced Settings | Default |
Vehicle Behaviors | Default |
The Hybrid Slide/Dive feature lets you swiftly perform both slides and dives based on your speed. A simple tap on the button will trigger an immediate slide, while holding it for a moment initiates a dive instead. This method offers the smoothest way to activate movement skills, though it might seem unusual at first use.
Combat Settings
Lastly, I must say, the Combat settings have been fine-tuned to perfection for those intense battles, offering controls such as zooming in with a scope or mastering the art of using C4. Additionally, we’ve tweaked some settings that will undoubtedly give me an edge in Warzone.
Setting | Value |
---|---|
Aim Down Sights Behavior | Hold |
Weapon Mount Activation | ADS + Melee |
Dedicated Melee Weapon Activation | Hold Melee |
Armor Plate Behavior | Apply All |
C4 Detonation | All at Once |
Equipment Behavior | Hold |
Manual Fire Behavior | Press |
Combat Advanced Settings | Default |
Overlay Advanced Settings | Default |
It seems that the controller settings might appear complex at first glance, but the majority of them are set to their default values and usually won’t need adjustment unless you have a particular goal in mind.
There is a golden rule for settings, which I’ve found very useful over the years. Stick with it. Any changes you make will take a while to get used to, but you can confuse things if you don’t give yourself time to adjust. Keep at it, and I know you’ll nail those 360-kill cams in no time!
In Black Ops 6, these settings are expected to perform well across all game types. However, be mindful of improving your perk knowledge to avoid getting overwhelmed in the Zombies mode.
